Actually they do ... their own book ... says left - 1053401 - 31 12 1 139 999 and right - 1053501 - 31 12 1 140 000 thse are w/o the bushing and the bushing number is 1053201 - 31 12 1 136 607. the 1st number is Lemforder and the long number is BMW number. Lemforder book page 31-12 under E31 8 series. Lemforder is the OEM manufacturer not MEYLE. Meyle might be OEM for others but BMW uses Lemforder. Huh? Your logic escapes me and defies..... .... understanding. How you could possibly get from what I said to what you think I said is beyond me. To summarize: 1. The new style Meyle HD upper control arms are just fine and will probably outlast the OEM Lemforder upper control arm bushings because they emulate the construction of the M5 bushings, and to my knowledge Lemforder hasn't changed it's original bushing design. Hence the inference. 2. From firsthand reports the new Meyle's perform and last about on par with the already well known upgrade of adding M5 bushings. This is good because one is independent of needing access to a press to do the M5 bushing install. 3. Lemforder lower wishbones are still the best in my opinion and the only thing I would put on my car. The Powerflex mod to the lower arms in not something I personally would consider due to how the OEM lower wishbones are constructed. I wouldn't use them for the upper bushings either as an alternative to either the Meyle's being discussed or the M5 bushings. They have been found to be not up to task because of deformation of the currently offered compound.

Re: My statement about the Meyle HD (upper)........ ok...
Re: My statement about the Meyle HD (upper)........
Re: First of all Michael the discussion is about... i just like to know how you can make the statement that the upper control arm is better than the lower... they are two different companies making two different components...
Re: First of all Michael the discussion is about...
First of all Michael the discussion is about... ... upper control arms, not lower wishbones. Yes, Lemforder is only what I'd put on my car for that component as I have no interest in the powerflex option you're running. The discussion isn't about the lower wishbones at all, or the pros and cons of what's better or worse regarding those. As to the uppers it's back to the classic upgrade to the M5 bushings or these newer HD Meyle's. The current version of the Powerflex upper control arm bushings have been proven to be inferior and not what I would consider to put on my car or to recommend. Still I will reiterate what I said above that the HD Meyle will 'probably' outlast the OEM Lemforder upper control arm busings.
First of all Michael the discussion is about...
My statement about the Meyle HD (upper)........ .... control arms was based on the fact that they now are made similar to the M5 bushing style. AFAIK the Lemforder arms haven't changed theirs from the original design. It was an intuitive assumption and the keyword in my statement is 'probably'. Take it for what it's worth.
My statement about the Meyle HD (upper)........
well...dude , oyu need to wake up first since rcrad made the statement that the arm by meyle is better thatn the one by lemforder 'I have a set of the M5's that I'll use on the next control arm change because I have them, but if that wasn't the case these are probably what I'd use. These probably hold up better than the OEM Lemforder.'

They don't, MEYLE Does...Go back to sleep...
Re: Because we are talking about Uppers - DUH! nevermind then... i just didn't know lemforder makes uppers.

Re: Those Meyle's shown are just fine, and..... how do you know they hold up better than the lemforder control arm? have you tested them in a control test?
Re: Those Meyle's shown are just fine, and.....
Sutre, real easy: Jack up the car, remove the ball remove the bolt at the large bushing and chassis connection, replace the thrust arm. Attache and tighten the ball-joint nut to torque; finger tighten the bushing bolt. Load the suspension (set the car on the ground), tighten the bushing end bolts to torque. Open a cold beer.

thanks ! now, any instructions available ? lots of discussions in the archive, but have not found any instructions on how to replace the control arms. Is there any available ?

Those Meyle's shown are just fine, and..... .... reports from experienced users of both these (in particular) and ones with the uprated M5 bushings installed are that the mileage longevity is about the same. I have a set of the M5's that I'll use on the next control arm change because I have them, but if that wasn't the case these are probably what I'd use. These probably hold up better than the OEM Lemforder.
