I have a non M Z3, and stock style (Meyle HD) strut mounts, and stock springs.

If you have an M, use other strut mounts (Ground Control, Rogue, etc), and/or especially different springs (lower) - that will make a big difference - probably more than the shock/strut.

Different people, different expectations,

different use,
different needs,

It's up to each to come up with what modifications meet their individual requirements.

If you want one size fits all, stay stock. BMW did a good job of that.

Bilstein HD will definitely have a harsher ride than stock M shocks.
Whether the ride is too harsh or just right is a personal judgment.

If you want a better ride and better handling, look at Koni.

I agree as well.

Stay with Touring-

I replaced the stock shocks on my M Roadie with Bilstein Sports, and find the ride a bit too firm. In retrospect should have gotten Touring.

I agree, HDs aren't too harsh

as long as you're driving on reasonably smooth roads. When I drive some of the roads right in and around Philadelphia, though, it does get kinda bumpy. But here in Central PA, no problem.

Koni's are adjustable, but the rears have to be adjusted as you mount them. I have Bilstein HD, don't think the ride is harsh at all. The quality of the Yellow (HD/Sport) Bilstein are much better quality than OEM Sachs or Touring, and I am quite sure much longer lasting.

Shock/Strut Question

I'm looking to make some handling improvements to my 2000 ///M Roadster. Originally I was leaning towards Bilstein HDs but I don't intend to track the car again and I don't want a harsher ride. I'm now looking at the Bilstein Touring Class.

Any comments or input would be appreciated.
