    Yes you can. Pixels do go bad. There is sometimes

    a fix or fixers for this. Reard and search at e38.org and on bim merboard dot com in the e38 section.

    This board has been pretty quiet for some time and covers the 7 from 2002 to 2009. You might get help on the 7 Series (E38) board that would cover a 1999 model.

    740i inst panel removal

    Hello,
    I'm new to the forum and to BMW's also. Thinking seriously about buying a 1999 740il.
    The digital display section on the main gauge panel has many inoperative pixels. Have heard this may be simply a bad connection to the instrument panel.
    My question...can I tilt the instrument cluster out by removing the screws directly above the bezel?

    Also, are there any major chronic problems with this model to consider before I buy?
    Any inputs appreciated.
