Re: How about sea foam...it has bubbles..... The thing I like about Amsoil Powerfoam is that it can be in contact with all surfaces and left to act without the engine running. The usual "Seafoam through the brake booster" thing that a lot of people do doesn't guarantee even application through the IM or even to all cylinders because it's slurping a liquid in through a single port meant simply to be a vacuum tap. A true foam (Amsoil or otherwise) will expand to contact all of the major surfaces inside the cylinder or IM and sit there working on the deposits. Or that's the theory anyways.

Just read the directions (m) It says to avoid contact with hoses but I'd still spray it in thru the hose but replace the hose when done.

For you I6 guys I'd spray the stuff in here (m) Unplug hose #15 from the #14 check valve and spray it in thru this hose, that goes to the front side of the IM which should distribute it pretty even to all cylinders. This is from an Jan 97 528i. http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...94&hg=11&fg=45

but we would IF we had porcelain somewhere on
Will probably test it on my lawn tractor first, (m then of the Volvo. If it works as advertized I'll use it on the 540.

I've heard of scrubbing bubbles, but ahh, ummm If that guy wants you to use them, he can't think very much about your car. It softens and desolves the carbon.... which is then burned of from the combustion heat; also, the cats run incredibly hot and will burn all "leftovers".Fritracer Cincinnati, OH 2000 540ia Sport Package 9/99 Silver/ Black img=168887[/IMG]

Re: Look up Amsoil Power Foam - sounds similar We have the opposite problem with yard equipment here where the California government seems to have a say in how the entire continent gets treated. All OPE is coming with non-adjustable carbs which run really lean for "California compliance". So, needless to say, lots of things don't run properly unless you spend another $100 on a fully adjustable replacement carb (if it is available at all) to strap on to your string trimmer, lawnmower, snowblower, chainsaw, whatever. If you're really lucky you can find one being sold that still has adjustments but it seems rare. There's lots of great things about California but Governor Arnold needs to stay out of my garage or send some of his 75F and sunny all year round stuff my way as compensation.
Re: Look up Amsoil Power Foam - sounds similar
Re: Look up Amsoil Power Foam - sounds similar Craig, Never thought of removing the throttle body completely off and injecting into the IM. That sounds like a heck of lot better plan. Depending on Jim sees, I may give this stuff a whirl just for the heck of it. I honestly don't think the car needs at all, but you know how it is: it has been months since I have gotten to do ANYTHING to my car, and I want to do something, any little thing, before winter sets in and locks me down. I really think this stuff would do wonders for my Honda lawn mower; I swear Honda runs that mixture way too rich...... Eurodavid

Water turns to steam to loosen the carbon (m) This stuff seems like it would do a better job, here is a link with more info. http://www.fbodyonline.com/forum/f65...er-foam-67884/ http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/apf.aspx I'm thinking about using my water/methanol injection setup to do the same thing, should work. I just need to turn the pressure down so it won't spray to much in too fast.

..but only in the CCs you can get it to, not IM
Plain water works too...(M) google "water decarbonization"
