Backing up on the ramps won't push them away (m) Trying up onto them with the front wheels can sometimes push them forward.

Europeans don't drive a rusty old pickup :-) and that guy is sure looks like welding something. I have seen this pics but never noticed the welding equipment in the background. Filehorse, you stole my pic I've used freq on here First time I used it was poking fun at Panos after he wrecked his 540. I said "Panos has found a new set of wheels!" Eurodavid

jeezus, one little mention of Gorillas & u guys go APE S H I T! ;-D As for myself, I prefer backing up onto ramps (while at same time car rolls up on 3" inch graded wood planks in front), then using the center frame jack pad under the front and jacking the whole front-end up that way and putting two more Gorilla ramps facing in opposite direction as rear. This locks the car in solid when doing under-the-car engine stuff like oil pan, draining oil, tranny work, guibo work, transmission mounts, tranny drain & refill, drive-shaft, etc, etc). If I have to do work on any of the wheels, I roll the hydraulic jack around to that jack pad on the outer rim of the car, and jack away (no pun intended---and Craig, forgot to mention I am one of those who uses the diff as a jack point when doing any rear wheel work, using a double 2x4 carved & formed to fit snugly under the diff---sorry forgot to mention that fact. BMW says no on the using the diff, but it's funny how every BMW mechanic I know uses the diff--BMW diffs were built to withstand 4-5 times the weight of the rear of the car). As far as jack stands, not using them frequently is just my preferance. On a few of my old American muscle cars, I can't tell you the number of times my father, brother and me nearly pulled the car off one or more of the Craftsman jack stands when we were cranking (torquing) hard on something trying to either get something on and/or get it to its torque specs. If you've ever seen a car come off the jack stands while you are working on it, you'll get religion right away when it comes to preformed heavy duty ramps (or go the route of BMW540san). But of course, YMMV. Eurodavid

Did you read the reviews on that Amazon link? (m) Tractor Supply was selling them for $30 each. Yes, I paid $25 each plus shipping. http://www.millmans.com/product_categories.cfm Typing in the p/n in the link above brings up this link. I'm pretty sure that the Alltrade name is an Australian brand, so you should be able to get them "down under". http://www.alltradetools.com/catalog...ack-stand.html Here they are for $35 each. https://www.toolsmithonline.com/prod...7%7DJack-Stand

Re: who uses jackstands anymore? Four Gorilla ramps, For sake of getting crucified, why the back first? wouldnt it be easier to drive on the front & lift the rear? (only had 1 wheel in the air up to this point, but needed to do ATF) Have a pair of gorilla's already, certainly willing to spring $50 for another to get the stability. One last newb question. when raising, either full front or back, what are you using as the jack point? Finally, anybody got any idea how tough it is to ask the above without using the phrase "jacking off"...i tried to be good. thx
