    At over 100k miles, its good to change out the whole kit: radiator, thermostat, water pump, overflow tank, hoses.

    I did this last year but this month I had a more insidious problem:
    leakage from the hard pipes under the manifold. You can't see them without disassembly or perhaps a telescoping mirror if you know where to look. Be smart and do a thorough pressure test on the cooling system, you really want to deal with all faults at one go.

    Thanks, i'll give it a shot. I was afraid to pull too hard as 10 yr old plastic is easy to break and I don't have new hoses on hand.

    I have the old style as well, but if I remeber

    correctly, on the few new ones I worked, you just pull it with even force on both sides and it snaps out. I don't like them, because it's possible to break the plastic. I usually advice to put new hoses if they have 6 or more years on it.

    help removing new style plastic hose clamps

    I've got a coolant leak, constant drip drip drip falling from the bottom of the engine. I'm assuming it's the thermostat housing or w-pump. So, i'm gonna replace both. I've done it on my older bmws in the past but these new style plastic hose clamps have me stumped. I've removed the metal clips but the hoses will not release from the t-stat housing. What is the secret? I don't want to break them. Any help is appreciated.
