Re: Decision made She will not drive either car until she has experience behind the wheel for awhile. I will limit throttle pedal travel in either car when the time comes.
Re: Decision made
Re: Decision made Wow. Wish my Dad had owned a Viper, but not when I was starting out behind the wheel. We had talked about the hazards of kids learning to drive, and I hope she carefully earns the right to pedal the Viper. Good Luck.
Re: Decision made The daughter wanting to drive it is not the issue, she is only 5 ft and doctor says that is all the taller she will get. I would love for her to drive it after she learns to drive. The problem is the standar manual steering; it is hard for me to steer it at a stand still and at low speed and she would not be able to steer it. I had her sit in the drivers seat last month and she could not reach the pedals enough to get the clutch in and she was literally lifting herself out of the seat trying to turn the steering wheel, so she would not be able to drive it any way. My son has no interest in cars and has never asked to drive it. I only drove it 4 times this year due to the temps being in the mid to upper 90's the whole suumer; if it was 95 outside, it was 140 in the car; very uncomfortable. To tell you the truth. I think after 29 years of owning it, I'm bored with it. If I do end up keeping it, I will install a bolt-in power rack and pinion kit that is now available for the car when money allows and look into an A/C kit. I want something the wife and I can take on trips and not worry about somebody damaging the car and not being able to get parts to fix it. I want to buy a 2003 or newer Viper convertible. I have talked to a lot of people who own Vipers and they have said that it can be driven just like an everyday car if you want, which means trips to Iowa and Michigan to visit family can be really fun when it is just her and I going; if the family goes, we take the 540. This decision has been long and hard in the making; it is like selling one of my kids but it is time to move on.
Vanishing point I need another one after I crashed mine in Cisco ;-) Good luck with the sale. It's a beauty model.
Vanishing point
Re: Decision made I'm sorry to hear that you are parting ways with the T/A. I remember those days of the Cam/Am Series, and have fond memories of watching them race at Riverside Raceway. Coincidentally, the elementary school that my wife now works at is located about 200 yards east of where the kink in the back straight at Riverside (going into Turn Nine) used to be. As I had stated last summer, your car (and the '71) is my favorite. (I didn't care for the front end of the second generation cars). You said a few months ago that your daughter wanted to race the car. Hope that's not the reason for selling the Challenger. Unfortunately (having recently retired) I'm financially strapped, or I'd consider it, but I hope you do well on the sale.
Re: Decision made You guys are so funny!!!????!!! I hit the enter key to soon and then I got pulled away from my computer (work comes first, you know) and then had to leave for Iowa for the holiday before I could correct this. I am selling my 1970 Dodge Challenger T/A. You can check it out at classiccars.com. It is the Hemi Orange T/A with the 420 stroked engine and 513 area code in the phone number. If interested, give me a buzz. Hope everybody is enjoying turkey day. I ate way to much but the beer is cold (as is the weather); did I ever mention that I hate the cold anymore?
