Newest update on winter tires After a lot of snow and ice driving, I have to say I am impressed with the Khumo winter tires. They bite very good in snow, deep or light dusting, do well on ice also. The only thing I notice different between these and the old Blizzaks is the ice performance; the Blizzaks have a slight edge over the Khumo; not enough to spend the extra $$$ that the Blizzks cost. I do not have a complaint about these tires. For $89, they cannot be beat. After acouple of hundred miles, their dry performance increased; don't have that greasy feeling any more and traction light flickering a lot less. No wet weather issues. I have over 5000 miles on these already! In less than a month???!!!!?? Crap, I am doing way to much driving... wait a minute...Michigan this weekend... another 700 miles.Fritracer Cincinnati, OH 2000 540ia Sport Package 9/99 Silver/Black 1970 Dodge Challenger T/A 420 stroker w/6 Pak 430 HP, 510 lbft torque

Re: New update
Re: New update Be glad you weren't in the Challenger on Mickey Thompsons! p.s. Here in Southern Cal., it's now in the upper 70's at 1:30 p.m., about an hour east of Los Angeles (not to gloat too much, honestly...)
New update First real snow this weekend; 3-4 inches. The Khumo winter tires do not grip ice as well as the Blizzaks but grip very good in the snow. Pulling out of my drive this morning, the traction control light did not flash on; it usually did with the Blizzaks. No problems getting around at all.Fritracer Cincinnati, OH 2000 540ia Sport Package 9/99 Silver/ Black

No worries now. All clear. Only hit small area. The dump hit a small zone and has been cleared. I don't know whether they'll get more in the next few days, but nothing like what hit them. From downtown Buffalo east nothing really accumulated. My grass is covered in Rochester but the roads are dry. I was in Buffalo for Thanksgiving and then again Saturday/Sunday and nothing really happened then, just a few inches. The smackdown they got yesterday was compounded by a jacknifed truck followed by rush hour. Shouldn't have happened. Drive and have fun. Bring a blanket and shovel. Keep granolla bars and water in the trunk. And boots. And a flashlight. Another blanket would help. Maybe a big fat spliff, too. And some good tunes.

buffalo I went to Buffalo for thanksgiving. On Black Friday, had dinner with the family at a restaurant in Buffalo, then drove to Galleria Mall in Cheektowaga. Shopped from 8pm - 11pm (actually I watched the sabres game at the mall bar with my mom while others shopped), by the time we got back to our car (landcruiser), snowing, about 4" and coming down heavy. Drove back to Niagara Falls where we stayed on the Canadian side, no snow at all once you got 10 miles north. Never fails that we get a storm while visiting WNY in winter! dave 03 540i6

I was going to post you a question about snow (m) Saw some pretty bad footage on TV this AM from Buffalo to Syrcause. Is it still snowing where you are? I'm in Raleigh until Monday afternoon, it's in the 50's! I called up a buddy in Scranton a few hours ago, no snow there, none expected, hope it stays that way. I really want to take the 540 on one more long road trip before I pack her away for her winter teardown.

Jim, so far the snow stops at Buffalo Roads in Jersy and PA should be fine for your PS2's, but I put my boring sloppy cushy snows on last weekend.

Forgot to mention.... tramlining is now gone. Funny how tires can cause things. Alignment lter this month to remove as much negative camber as possible to increase tire life. Summers have heavy camber wear. Fritracer Cincinnati, OH 2000 540ia Sport Package 9/99 Silver/ Black

Update... Had snows mounted, balance and are on car. Traction control light flashes now on hard accelaration even at 50 mph! These things are soft!!! Has low rumble at speed. Has kind of a wallowing ride now. I'll see how they are in snow. Fritracer Cincinnati, OH 2000 540ia Sport Package 9/99 Silver/ Black
Update...
I put my snow tires on last week after the temps were consistently in the lower 40's or below. I have to say that it is now a pleasure driving again. Even though I lost the handling characteristics that the Bridgestone S-03's have, I hated the noise that they have been making for the last few thousand miles. My snows are extremely quiet. Now I can hear the engine sounds once again and I like it. I still hate the cold though. ;) jet black 2000 528iA sport premium package MB Quart speakers two Alpine amps MTX subwoofer AudioControl equalizer Dice interface for iPod BMW CCA member

More than just a few flakes in NE Ohio...
Please keep in Ohio, I want 2drive my 540 to NJ (m and PA next week. PS2's, cold temps, and snow don't mix well. Hope I don't need to take the V70, 900 miles in a boring ride.
