Xenon light kit: Wow, nice, but almost $500!
AutoEngunity (m) Haven't installed it yet, have read the manual to check out all of the other functions that my older version didn't have. If I have time I'll either install it tomorrow or the next day. I'm still looking for a new laptop, might get a Dell they seem to have some pretty good deals going now.

I remeber you having those, but in my case I'm exactly looking for high quality DRL for one reason only: during high speed run on interstate I want people to see me as early as possible. The good thing about aftemarket DRL I have is that I can disconnect it from low beams and connect it to whatever I buy pretty easy. To answer your question, I only want one set of DRL on. The problem that I have now is that if I have the headlight out, LCM doesn't recognise it because I have the constant power coming from DRL relay. Re: Driving light kit Mine is aftermarket which is basicaly relay that comes with wiring, inline fuse and instructions. It's connected to low beam now, but you can connect them to any aftermarket DRL. Re: Driving light kit
Driving light kit BMW made a kit that replaced the rather whimpy fog lights (35W on 01-03) with Xenon driving lights as replacement (see attached URL). I read the directions for installation and they had a rather poor location for the switch. I thought this empty panel location on the cluster would have made a better choice.

I figured... ...it would be something very involved plus require being "coded". I might get the switch just to "fill in the blank". I just hate having "an empty blank" on the dash. Re: I saw an interior pic of a Euro model E39... The headlights would need to be swapped for the European halogen versions (any version xenons would work, though xenon is technically required to have an "automatic" leveling system), all the wiring added, and the car's central coding key updated before recoding the LCM. Quite a bit of work.

#1 reason why I choose this mounting location is that a lot of european cars have it there too (E46, Audi etc.) Also, it's much easier and more natural position for a hand, IMO. 1998 BMW 540i 6 speed Arctic silver, M sport suspension (euro delivery), prod. date 05/98, non VANOS Staggered 18" style 32 OEM wheels 3.15 open differential Remus exhaust AFE CAI with improved heat shield Z3 shifter VDO oil pressure and temperature gauges in place of headlight/fog switches Powder coated valve covers-satin black CDV delete Debadged AEA DRL module (aftermarket daytime running lights) 1997 BMW 528iA Alpine white, premium package, prod. date 04/97, single VANOS Staggered 17" style 32 OEM wheels Debadged AEA DRL module Custom made sun blinds for rear seating area 2000 Nissan Frontier Desert Runner, AKA "The Work Horse" Garage aids: Direct Lift Pro Park 8 Campbell Hausfeld 28 gallon oil lubricated air compressor Newair ACP-1400H portable air conditioner and heater Auto Enginuity scan tool with BMW enhanced option Actron 9135 scan tool-for quick readouts

Mount the light switches... ...on the pillar by using two gauge pods...! Just kidding. Please don't flame or beat me up too bad. But seriously, mount the pods low on the pillar and then have the entire set up (pillar and pods) covered in the same material. Not sure if the wiring for the switches would reach that far but, it's just an idea. Again, go easy with the grenades and flame thrower. I saw an interior pic of a Euro model E39... ...and that's what was there, a switch to adjust the aim of the headlights. A guy on eBay (murad_motors) has one for sale. Is that something that would work on NorAm E39s or is there a motor and or some sort of linkage required? Just curious.
