Mitivac kit is easy to use and cheap. I paid 29.99 at Autozone and I had a $20.00 rewards card, so ended up being 10usd. works fine and simple one person job. I removed all fluid from the 840 and bled the system in about 1 hour 20 minutes. The hardest part was to move around with a jack and tools and lift each corner. No air, no brake issues. I used a non-synthetic DOT4 fluid as the synthetic is good but retains too much moisture so you need to change every year which I don't want to do. 1997 BMW 840CiA 1990 BMW Z1 1999 BMW 528iT (Hauler mobile) 2002 Astro Van AWD 2003 Nissan 350Z Enthusiast Package 1987 BMW 535i with 5spd manual (for sale) 1992 BMW 735iL (needs head and interior) 1977 BMW 320i (project racecar) 2007 Mazda CX9 AWD (Wife mobile) 1998 Yamaha Blaster+Breeze 1995 850CSI CD00177 (SOLD)

Yes to AIR COMPRESSOR Many of you already own an air compressor. No need to buy Motive Power Bleeder etc. With my trick, it costs about $8 for the cap and you are all set to go. You will LOVE this trick using ATE Brake Cap!
Yes to AIR COMPRESSOR
MOAR POWER! lol - thanks for the pointer
Use your air compressor!!! I wrote it up here: DIY: 1-man Hydraulic Bleeding Kit for those with Air Compressor!> http://www.b---immerfest.com/forums/...d.php?t=392957

Re: Which one? No link or reference in yr post I have the one pictured in your posting except mine has quick connects for all the adaptors. If the new updated one like Jim posted is available with all the adaptors, I would get that. I like the idea of a seperate drain/fill cap and pressure relief. I don't remember where I bought it; it was 6 years ago.Fritracer Cincinnati, OH 2000 540ia Sport Package 9/99 Silver/Black 1970 Dodge Challenger T/A 420 stroker w/6 Pak 430 HP, 510 lbft torque

Re: They all look old style as per JimLev I guess I missed something. I thought he was talking about a Motive bleeder with quick-release connectors and multiple adapters. That's exactly what I've been doing
They all look "old style" as per JimLev
I wouldn't buy it. Label is crooked. In all seriousness, I've been using this one with no problem. I don't mind pumping brake pedal. I just put piece of wood to behind to avoid blowing the MC seal. It cost me whooping $8. http://www.autohausaz.com/search/ima...19200LISLE.jpg 1998 BMW 540i 6 speed Arctic silver, M sport suspension (euro delivery), prod. date 05/98, non VANOS Staggered 18" style 32 OEM wheels 3.15 open differential Remus exhaust AFE CAI with improved heat shield Z3 shifter VDO oil pressure and temperature gauges in place of headlight/fog switches Powder coated valve covers-satin black CDV delete Debadged AEA DRL module (aftermarket daytime running lights) 1997 BMW 528iA Alpine white, premium package, prod. date 04/97, single VANOS Staggered 17" style 32 OEM wheels Debadged AEA DRL module Custom made sun blinds for rear seating area 2000 Nissan Frontier Desert Runner, AKA "The Work Horse" Garage aids: Direct Lift Pro Park 8 Campbell Hausfeld 28 gallon oil lubricated air compressor Newair ACP-1400H portable air conditioner and heater Auto Enginuity scan tool with BMW enhanced option Actron 9135 scan tool-for quick readouts

Re: You don't want the one in your post (m) On most of the Motive kits, they SAY quick disconnect but show a picture of a kit that clearly has no quick disconnect. I see the present-day Bavauto bleeder kit matches yours. Either Motive hasn't bothered to properly update their site, or Motive doesn't make the bavauto bleeder. I'd rather get something with a couple of adapters instead of the BMW/Mini-only bavauto kit but...
Re: You don't want the one in your post (m)
Re: You don't want the one in your post (m) So none of the universal, magnum or XLT I quoted are the right one? Back to the Motive site, I guess. I didn't notice anything clearly different on my first trip.
You don't want the one in your post (m) The new improved model in my post is the one to get. The old one has a fixed line between the bottle and the cap, so when you screw it on the MC it twists or you have to twist it in the opposite direction before you start. The quick disconnect on the new model is very convenient to use. It's also made by Motive and you can get different size caps for it too.

Which one? I don't want which one? I posted three models... :)
