Re: Yeah,,Yeah, Yeah.....You don't have Think that you could convince those pedestrians and riders who notice the rattle, that it is just the German version of a full-race cam lope?

It's all smiles pulling up next to a V8. Then, the
Rattleproof I didn't know that the rattle issue was strictly a V8 thing. Hope to start the Vanos seal deal next week. Thanks again, Craig!
Rattleproof
Yeah,,Yeah, Yeah.....You don't have to rub it in about the 540 vanos noise. It is quite embarrassing at idle and to be honest, it really pisses me off. Can't wait until the budget allows me to fix it...sometime mid-summer at the present rate. It isn't anti-rattle.....(m) The M52, M52TU and M54 have issues where the factory original VANOS seals "squash" and fail to seal fully. This means that the VANOS system is slow to react or possibly cannot even actuate fully. On the single VANOS cars (M52) this means a significant (but gradual over time) loss of low-mid "punch". In the double-VANOS cars (M52TU, M54) this can mean surging idle, trouble starting, dead spots, loss of power etc... There's no noise related to the I6 VANOS. Rattling is reserved for the V8 VANOS :)

beisan Vanos anti-rattle kit? My project started out as a simple valve cover replacement, but CraigInCanada talked me into intalling the Beisan Vanos seal kit in my M52TU Double Vanos-equipped 528i, since I was practically halfway there in terms of disassembly, in spite of the fact that I really hadn't detected any Vanos-related issues on my 70,000-mile engine. My quesion is this: Should the same principle of fixing what isn't yet broken also apply to Beisan's Vanos anti-rattle kit, or should it not? Thanks for weighing in. -dg
