Had almost the identical problem and

what I did was change the rear directional signals. That cured it. BUTwhen it happened again, I found out it was the front directionsl signal. What you should do is when it starts blinking quickly, stop and look at you bulbs, one of them is out. I hope that is the easy fix, otherwise it may get into more costly things. I also found out on my car that the silver tip on my bulbs sometimes seems to melt down, not sure why---but the answer may be to use BMW bulbs,

Thank heaven for all my LED rear tail

lights. Only problem will be if they ever fail, it'll cost me a bundle.

    It's probably

replace ALL of your signal bulbs,
clean the oxidation out of the bulb
    sockets, DRIVE.

use only 'silver tip' bulb from a BMW dealer

My quick reaction is not to panic. It's probably

likely to stay that way for a while, with a possible failure of turn signals in the distance future.
My first guess is the light module which is probably not casually cheap to replace. Have to search Bentley further for better ID of the component that flashes the signals.
Perhaps someone else has had exactly this and knows what the cure is.

    Fast Acting Directional

I have a 2001 330xi with 106,000 miles. I have had the batter and alternator replced, that was about 6 months ago or so. Lately I've been noticing that when I first turn the directionals on, in either direction, that for the first half dozen times, it seems to double blink / fast blink and then go to a normal pace. Then say, if a mile or so down the road, I use the turn signal again, it's completely normal. Is this a symptom of something major about to blow up, or nothing to worry about? Anything I should look into?
Thanks for help, tips and/or advice.
