What kind of exhaust are you running, Scott? I still have the stock one and enjoy it's authoritative rumble at idle but want to hear more of it.

    Hey, Wanna sell that BMW?

The best one was a guy at the gas station in the postage stamp suburb I live in. Hey man you wanna sell that car? I had one and it was THE BEST car I've ever owned. Boy I sure would like to have one again... wanna sell it?

I think I said something like, you don't have enough money to make me part from my baby. If I told you you would think I'm crazy.

I get comments 3 out of 5 times I take it out, but the thing that amuses me

is when the valet parking guys back it in a slot up front with the new Bimmers and Mercedes.

That is ONE great-looking car. I just chuckle.

What kinda BMW is that you got there?

Best when it comes from the guy standing behind the parts counter at the local auto stores.

    just for fun

Oh my god, that thing is huge.

Are you talking about the car?

What was that fighter jet going by?

I get comments on how beautiful the lines on the car are. When they then here the engine roar, that when the "What the [email protected]#% is under the hood?" comments begin. My fellow Sixer Tom Tunnell often tells people "It's pure evil."

"Gee, what model is that?", or

"Wow, what year is it?". But they usually have that sort of reverent grin, like they wish the wife would let them have one.Bill-'94 740i

I got another "what year is that" today

This time from a couple just wanting to break the ice. Turns out they picked up an E23 735i for $400 that "runs great but needs some cosmetics". Since I have owned and fixed up my share of the E-twentysomethings, I offered up all kinds of advice - probably more than they wanted!

    Re: Memorable comment

Typically it's a version of..."This is the car I think of when I think about BMW's-Best one they ever made"! etc.

Re: I get that and Is that new?

"Kind of fun but it does not seem to attract the girls."

    Memorable comment

I was refueling once and in the adjoining island a 12 year old girl asked her dad "What's that?" Dad looked over, paused and said: "Grandpa had one of those, a BMW." He looked over, smiled and gave me a thumbs up.Joe

    BMW M6 Power

WOW, Thats the Cleanest M6 I have ever seen

Sometimes, I get what year is it?
  • 02-26-2011, 08:32 PM

Surprisingly, most of the comments I get are from

people that are familiar with the model and comment on how well my cars are kept and how well they look for their age.

Occasionally, I'll get the" what a cute car, what year is that?"

Of course, most are surprised when the find how old these things are.

Re: What comment do you usually get?

I get the same question usually. I got a great compliment from a teenage kid at a McDonalds drive through the other day. He said "dude, that is the coolest car". Coming from a kid that probably drives a lowered Honda Civic with a coffee can exhaust, it was the coolest compliment.

I get that and "Is that new?"

I can't go anywhere without some dude wanting to look and talk. Kind of fun but it does not seem to attract the girls. Oh well.
