Curious to know wha estimate you get.... I just dropped off a 91 with 50,000 kilometers (31k miles) for the same reason... estimate bushing replacements (Mainly rear).
Taking 840 in to Hendrick next week. Hello Lane, Hope you are doing well. I am looking into replacing bushings, joints and links on my eight also. Going with all factory including shocks. Taking the car in for an estimate on what actually is worn and how much the whole job will cost. Will keep you posted! Waj

Anyone else....I need to buy a manual, just can`t find one.
Re: Viola! Maybe there is more to your post that I`m not seeing. I am only seeing what Mark posted....the science and history behind this setup. I am looking for a tech manual info. Thanks, Lane
Re: Viola!
I keep getting a default client thing. But thanx.
Very informative, so........ I would agree then that some type of flexible joint is used in that front mounting on the rear trailing arms, and that is why I opted for a urethane replacement, so that it will react very similarly to a NEW rubber mount, but slightly stiffer than the original as is the CSi bush when new. This is the reason that I have dismissed the use of a spherical bearing type joint in this position as seems to be the current trend. 8Tech.

Wow Mark, lots of info. Would you happen to have any tech manual info? I am looking for procedures....torque specs and info on changing out the bushings. Thanks, Lane

Viola! ok, all of 'em are in this PDF. Mark's right, it is a ridiculous size so please make sure to RIGHT CLICK and "save as"... MWrench PDF
Viola!
Then let's ask the experts, shall we? One thing that sets this board apart from all others - we cite, not guess. You'll notice a bunch of springy things in the diagrams, so perhaps everybody should stick with stock rubber bushings and avail themselves to about $500 million in design wisdom. Set your browser to autoreduce/fit JPEGs - these are scanned at 100% just in case somebody wishes to box them up into a single PDF and repost with sufficient resolution(cough, cough). I am sort of leaning toward OEM type rubber because I have read so much conflicting info on urethane...and I know the story on rubber...good and bad. I am a cruiser type of guy with this car....get my fix on a sport bike. lol Thanks, lane

Hi Chrome...been on here for 8 years and have PM`ed anyone here. I don`t how to send you a message offline. I am on a BMW M/C forum and its easy to PM. Many Thanks, Lane

Dunno; I'm not the urethane expert, don't know how much flex is demanded. On first glance, if there were no NVH considerations, why would any flex be needed? Wheel alignment geometry benefits from the opposite. I've joked for years about these cars lacking the fixed wheelbase option, assumed that anything mounted in rubber is for ride comfort and noise reduction, not precision.

Not to be pendantic, but Bill, doesn't the rear setup actually rely on a specific amount of compliance to do its job?
Not to be pendantic, but
Contact me offline. I don't want to post links that cross-pollinate the boards and irritate the hosts. I have a rear trailing arm exchange program with an uprated bushing from Phoenix, plus info on the rest of the bearings/bushings. It's all straighforward press work except the rear wheel bearings.

Forgot, TIA to anyone willing to help!!
Info on changing all suspension bushings and wondering what the lastest info is and if there is a good service manual on this subject. I spent some time in search....just seems like all of it is dated....and I`m concerned things or info has been updated. I really want to do this. I`m going on 8 years of ownership and I still love this car. Take care, Lane
