    Are you thinking of the Reds, or the Green? The Red is their track/street pad. Running two event in the next couple of weeks, so will no more shortly. So, far on the street they feel comparable to stock when cold, and much stronger when hot. Whether Pagid might be better yet, I have no idea, but can report on the EBC in a few days.

    Good clod, good hot, dust washes right off w/ soap and water.

    The OEM Pads on my M Coupe cracked right down the middle from the heat of a track day. Happy with EBC and no dust.

    I've cooked stock M5 brakes at TWS

    Probably better pads would have helped. I bought some Porterfield R4's in case I take it back, but I've been having so much fun with the M3 I don't know if I'll take the M5 back or not.
    If you can just take it easy on brakes, you may be fine. Just lift on the straights and you won't have to kill as much speed. I think I was just getting too panicky as my speed increased beyond my skills (easy to do with the M5) and I braked more than I really had to.

    If the big brakes fit under your wheels and you really want to track your car seriously, go for it!
    The biggest limitation I found on the M5 was tires. The outer edge of the Michelins just got murdered. Need more camber.

    The cash outlaw could be significant.
    Big brakes - $2500-$3000
    New M5 - $1750
    Used M5 - $500

    Since I only track it a couple of times a year, I was considering the cost/benefits.

    From what I heard around the paddock

    I have seen 2 M5 at the track. When I talked to one of them the only thing he was complaining was that the car was heavy and the brake faded. The biggest difference you could probably make is the pad. Switching to a compound more track friendly will make it better. I would spend the extra cash and buy the big brake kit and get it over with. You will find more aftermarket brake pads and it will be very easy to change them. Plus you will have the best set up, instead of upgrading again once you get faster with the car.

    First time on the board and have a couple of ?

    1) I drive a 02/540i/6. and run a road coarse maybe twice a year ( and was seriously thiking about upgrading my brakes to M5 brakes. I figure it is cheaper than \"big brakes\" and would do the job for limited track time. Opinions on this will be appreciated.

    2) Anyone of the board happen to run at Hallett (near Tulsa, OK)? It would be great to hook up with somebody from time to time.
