Weight is not a problem. Overall, the motor and tranny are 120lbs heavier than the original M20 motor/tranny. But the combo is set as far back as possible. Remember that now the heavy tranny is in the center of the car, at least 6 inch further back from original and that there is no more of those heavy items under the hood like ABS pump, AC compressor and rad., brake booster etc. Hood is lightweight fiberglass, no more headlamp clusters, the nose is tube frame, etc. The car has been on a diet. BTW the driver will also be seating 6 inch further back. That is 200lbs worth of driver... The car can also be corner weighted to help reach an ideal weight distribution.

e30 V8 here. Not a club racer though. My friend's car is located near Montreal and competes in regional racing. Motor is from a 540i with 6 speed tranny. The whole package is 120 lbs heavier than an M20, but weight is moved to the back. So, we do not fear having a car with heavy nose and massive understeer. The motor and tranny are mounted solid. The shifter is now located 6 inches further back.
