The slowest is already IN production(m)

X5 3.0 auto. Does 0-60 in about 2 hours (or 9 seconds, if I'm not mistaken).

Any of the 1/2 series variants (yes, even the 1.6 liter ones) will beat that time handily.

Are you comparing Euro four cylinders to US sixes? Cause in Europe, there are tons of 3 and 5 series with four cylinders that are slower than this 1 series will be.
In the US, six cylinder 1/2 series would be very fast cars.Chris

    Slowest?

uhh check out the 2002tii, superstar. they were the slowest in the 70'and represented the sort of econ-BMW of the time. If you bumped the 1970's 2002's up to modern standards it would pretty much be around the same speed/engine specs of the 1/2. The M2 will likely be the soul succcessor of the E30 M3, and be a true screamer like the BMWs of yore.

    ... slowest mainstream BMW EVER!!!

I'd say, save the money for later and buy a used E90 one year after it comes out in 2005.

I am sure that the top of the line 1-Series will be very closely priced to the bottom of the line E90 and the jump in style and performance is considerable
