Re: Car pricing in the UK is a special case, don\'t ask

The British always get ripped off on car prices. The manufactures always blame it on the need to put the steering column on the right. That's a fair excuse to add a few pounds to the price, but not what it usually ends up at.

When I lived there, I saw a used E46 for sale in a dealership for over 40k. For a while, people were going over to the mainland to get their cars much cheaper, but the gov't put an end to that with extra taxes.

me why? The steering wheel at the wrong side?

    <a href="http://klanten.ppghjwt.com/bmw1/prijslijst_bmw_1-serie.pdf">Dutch prices</a>

The 'netto cata...' colomb is the excluded tax price in Euros. And don't forget the shipping costs.

And converted to US prices the top of the line 120d sport would be $36K.

I thought these were supposed to be cheaper than the 3-series?
