Cosworth=$$$$$ Hard to believe, I would like to know how they make money, selling a limited amount of engines to a few teams, clue me in.

Re: HSBC (Bank of Scotland) Believe it or not, Cosworth (ford engines) actually MAKES money.
Re: HSBC (Bank of Scotland)
Yep, Marlboro gives Ferrari $150million/yr. IIRC. I'll guess that the other sponsors (e.g., shell, bridgestone) pour in another 100 million or so collectively. And then the entire Bridgestone F1 program is dedicated to Ferrari.

HSBC (Bank of Scotland) Paid $35 Million to be primary sponsor on the JAGUAR team. However for 2005 HSBC no longer sponsoring JAGUAR. Beats me where the other $250M+ comes from. I guess FORD the parent company to JAGUAR digs in deep, along with engine support to Eddie Jordan team. Hewlett Packard HP probably gives BMW around $50M plus gets biz from BMW as well. FEDEX is a main BMW sponsor, but handles all their freight to their 300+ dealer network and USA vendors all ship via FEDEX to distribution and BMW South Carolina factory. Budweiser paid $15M for thir logo on the top of the air box. MARLBORO must pay close to $75M+ based on what others are paying. FIAT I imagine pays in also. Read the info above, Schumacher gets paid $40M himself from Ferrari.

Re: are you saying they get $200M from sponsors? manufacturers like toyota, mercedes, bmw, and ferrari (fiat) put vast amounts of money into their programs. the rest comes from giant corporations that foot the rest of the bill. drivers often bring their own sponsership dollars with them (alex yoong last year).
Re: are you saying they get $200M from sponsors?
are you saying they get $200M from sponsors? for the 8-10 teams that make up the grid, that is almost $2B/year in sponsorship money. is that possible? i know that everybody is working to cut the costs of f1, but the current economics don't work out.
are you saying they get $200M from sponsors?
tobacco, alcohol, petroleum sponsors
where does all the money come from? I realize a majority of it is from the sponsorships and that there is a % share of TV money and tickets sales. However, the top teams have a budget of about $300M-$400M. Does Ferrari sell so many hats and t-shirts that they can afford to pay michael $40M/year? Just curious if anybody has any insight on this.
