    Being an eternal optimist...

I already see the FW26 improving already. The last 2 days @ Jerez last week were P1 & prior to that the last 4 races were 50/50 in terms of quantifiable improvements. But the only team that has moved forward in that time by leaps & bound is Maclaren with their new car.

The 26 has obviously got an imbalance between front & rear. But IMO they are slowly (albeit a little late) in resolving it.

I think the last 7 races will see an interesting fight for 4th place between Maclaren & Williams.

Finishing 5th wouldn't be too bad for '05 because of the 3rd car testing on Friday rules & the 27 could use the extra testing. But then again finishing in front of Mac is 2nd only to finihsing in front of Ferrari ;P

Glad he is getting an opportunity.

Gene unfortunately didn't do well, but his last 2 races were on tracks that didn't favor the FW26 chasis.

Glad to see Williams trying "everything"

2004 season is history, might as well begin 2005 now including drivers.

Trying to get Weber out of his Jaguar contract didn't materialize. Sounds like he can opt out if Jaguar finishes lower than 6 in the Consctructors Championship.

    2004....concentrate on the FW26 for 2005

    Pizzonia confirmed for Hockenheim

    As reported on Atlas F1
Williams Confirm Pizzonia for German GP

    Friday July 16th, 2004

Brazilian Antonio Pizzonia will drive for the Williams team at the German Grand Prix, the Formula One squad confirmed today.

"I am very happy to have been given this opportunity by the team and I will do my very best to assist the team in scoring some points," said the Brazilian, a test driver for the BMW-powered team.

"My total concentration is now on the forthcoming race weekend, and I have a clear preparation plan prior to Hockenheim."

Pizzonia will replace injured Ralf Schumacher at the wheel of the second Williams after Spaniard Marc Gene stood in for the German in France and Great Britain. Gene failed to score any points.

Brazilian Pizzonia last raced at the 2003 British Grand Prix, before he was dumped by the Jaguar team.
