Got one and it works great with my Blackberry. Now I am trying to go to an I-Phone and cannot remember the pairing code. Anybody?

Works (sort-of) with Samsung i730 and i830

The BT connects just fine and I can dial from the dash keyboard or phone and use the steering wheel buttons for connect/disconnect and volume, but no phone book transfer or even most used numbers.

I just spoke to the Parts Manager at one of the local SoCal BMW dealers yesterdday inquiring about what it would take to get Bluetooth working in in Jan 02 production E65. He said that it could be done. It would take retrofitting my CPT8000 to a CPT9000 and then using the BTUM all at a cost of about $2,000. But....he also said that one of his coworkers just came back from some training class and they told him that they are coming out with a more cost-effective way to get BT in the earlier production E65's. Should be out by end of the year. Let's hope he’s right.

You can do it, but $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

First you have to convert to the 9000 system so you can use the cradle pocket of the new bluetooth insert, but it isn't cheap.
And no, you cant just pluug in the cradle as the wiring is different.

Most of the issue with the upgrade has to do with BMW Assist and the use of the phone to dial the service.

Wonder if there are any options if we don't have BMW Assist?

I can't believe that BMW would not have a version for the "First" owners of their new 7 Series Model? Surely they are not going to exclude these "valued" customers. BMWNA: can you please tell us when the 2002 owners will be able to get this Upgrade Module?

I found the easiest way is to go back into your address book and append a letter at the end of each entry. Joe C (cell) Joe H (home) etc... It does make using the phone a little more cumbersome to find the appropriate number but the trade off of in car dialing makes ok for me.

It even uploaded my phonebook.

Like some other users reported, I too get that high hiss noise at higher volume. While it uploads entire phonebook from my Razr V3c, if I have more than 1 phone # entry for the same name/contact (ex, Mike - cell, Mike - Home, Mike -office, it displays only 3 entries for Mike and you are forced to guess or use the handset.

Other than that, it's GREAT!

How do you know if you car has 8000 or 9000??

BTW, unit was purchased on eBay.

BlueTooth upgrade Report

UPS dropped off the BTUM and it was installed in less than 10 minutes.

The hardest part was figuring out which way the spacer went into the cradle.

I have a Motorola RAZR and the two devices found each other and paired up.

One suggestion -- write down the BTKey, which is on the backside of the BTUM, before you install it. You need it for the pairing process. I wrote it down in the BTUM user manual.

The pairing process went fine. The phonebook transferred. The manual says that it transfers from the phone, first, then the SIM card. The address book has a 500 name capacity.

In anticipation of the BTUM's arrival, I programmed a few voice dial entries. They worked. The dashboard keypad works as well.

One problem - there is interference, evidenced by a buzzing noise, in the system. This is acknowledged in the manual. I have the same problem with the BMW BT kit in my E39. The phone needs to be kept away from some of the electronics. I haven't figured out the right place for it yet.

Nice job, BMW. It would have been nice if you had given us a head's up, though.

Got mine today.

Paired up with the Treo 650 right away.

However, the treo continued to reboot and reboot. Need to work on the favorites list as I have been told that will cause the problem.

If not I will update the firmware.

Will let you know when I get it to work.
