The plug is actually TWO pieces

Don't try to pry it from the outside - that won't work. The little ridge in the middle is the plug itself. Once I realized this, the plug came out in just a few seconds with a tiny screwdriver.

I guess you could...

...but it wasn't too tough to remove. I think there was a black outline area, and then the plug was separate. Are you prying the correct place? Look at the pic and find the tab, insert the scredriver there and it should come out fairly easily.

picture looks like it has a small tab on the side. Wasd thinking of drilling it out and just buying new.

They're deeper than they look, that's why I took this picture when I did mine. Use a tiny screwdriver and be patient, it'll come.

door plug removal

What is the best way to remove the rubber plug on the door that accesses the door handle. I'm replacing the rubber gaskets behind the exterior handle. I can't get them to pop out.
