However, considering the mediocre reviews this vehicle is getting.......NOT for much longer.
Agreed. Not as ugly in person and nicer in a darker color.
BMW would have been better served just warming over that outstanding V-8. :D
Refer me to one of those "mediocre reviews" Al.
I would like to see a Silver Gray in person, my dealer has only gotten (that i know of), Ind Red with Black interior and Black Saphire with White interior. I dont think I could handle the white interior, I would like to see that after 1-5 years, even someone who maticulously maintains their car would have a hard time keeping the white interior looking new!
Driving the Sled Pig in the morrow Hooplehead!
Will reserve MY opinion until then. ;)
For you lazy bastards that refuse to do their own research.......the "problems" have been the over-taxed chassis and brakes, a crappy SMG, and a fuel tank the size of a pumpkin. :D
If you really want to to drive a European V-10......the Williams F1 team is off-loading ALL their racing acrs at rock bottom prices.
The last white interior car I saw was a Cutlass!
A 1971 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme, burnt orange exterior with a white top..........owned by my Ol' Man. ;)
We had that car for years and the interior held up pretty well.
The fuel tank is the only "issue"...
Over taxed chassis? Where did you read that, because its definately not. The car is solid crusing around town, or bombing down the track. The suspension set up is one of the best OEM systems I've driven.
Brakes? Held up fine at the track, although I would recommend some better pads. HPS perhaps. Have you seen the size of the rotors and calipers?
Crappy SMG? You obviously have not driven one so shut your face. SMG 3 is much better than SMG 2, and I think it fits the car perfectly. But SMG will always be a personal preference so maybe I'm just lucky.
Small tank... yes, it could be bigger, but after break in the milage is getting better so it may not be a real issue in the long term.
I said this before... Shut your pie hole and go drive an M5.
Drove one into the Hill Country yesterday Hoople!
When I get a break from "bidness".......I'll give you my impressions.
So far....I like the M3 SMG much better. ;)
Now go off and play with yourself. :P
Re: The last white interior car I saw was a Cutlass!
BMW's have had light gray leather interiors (pretty much white) for years and years.
We're talking WHITE like eyeballs amigo! ;)
THAT I have'nt seen in a Bimmer.
Just a tad defensive there Mr. Rabid? ;)
You remind me of another Rabid character.......from some other Flea Forum. :D
While this car has many outstanding attributes......agility isn't one of them. Then again I'm used to driving sports cars and not big Kraut sports sedans.
And it's NOT the Lead Sled. It's The Sled Pig. ;)
Great car at speed. We pushed over 120 mph on IH-10 outside of Junction City, Texas........then returned through all those twisties returning to Austin.
Not done with my review so cool your jets Zorro. :P
Re: We're talking WHITE like eyeballs amigo!
Lotus white interior. I had that color in my 87 M6 and in my 84 850CSi.
Not the biggest fan of white interiors! ;)
Have some friends that LOVE the 850 Csi. What was your experience like?
yes, but may introduce more
with the unproven transmission...
not to knock the car... but working out the kinks is hard when you introduce a totally different transmission...

The car is certainly not perfect.
There are a bunch of minor, irritating features, mostly because either I, or BMW haven't perfected all this technology yet.
But I have to agree, if you're looking for the best car in the world with 4 doors, and you love to drive, this is it. Good review in this month's Autoweek - the M5 "rips the lungs out of it's competition".
