Congrats to all BMW GAC teams...
Auberlen/Gleason started last and finished 2nd overall in their Turner Motorsport M3 for GS. Anders Hainer and Boris Said climed up from 23 to finish 8th in their TMS M3. And Martinelli and McMillen finished 12th in their M3. Not bad for a high HP track dominated by the mustangs and 996s.
In ST, Turner and Salama finished 3rd in their TMS 330i. Potter and Tuaty finished 9th in their ex TC Kline Z4 and Himes/ Piper/ Briody rounded out the top 10 in their 330.

TMS Opens Season With Podium Finishes In GS and ST Classes
DAYTONA INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY - January 29, 2006 - Turner Motorsport put all of its racecars in the top ten and was the top-placing BMW in the GS and ST classes in Friday’s Grand Am Cup season-opener at Daytona International Speedway. Bill Auberlen and Chris Gleason, drivers of the #96 H&R Springs/StopTech Brakes BMW M3, finished in second place overall. The #97 Turner Motorsport/H&R Springs BMW M3 with Anders Hainer and Boris Said finished eighth. Will Turner and Don Salama scored a third place finish in the ST class in their H&R Springs/Borla Exhaust BMW 330i.
Bill Auberlen and Chris Gleason started the race from the back of the pack due to a clutch failure just before qualifying. During the race the Turner Motorsport M3 ran flawlessly and brought them into the top twenty by the race’s mid-point. Auberlen took the car home with an intense battle among the top three in the final stage of the race. The #96 M3 was one half-second behind the leader at the checkered flag.

“We didn’t plan on other cars having hiccups during the race but that’s what we capitalized on. We had our own small hiccup just before qualifying but the Turner crew turned it around and brought us another podium for the M3. This is really a track suited for the Mustangs and Porsches and the StopTech brakes on the M3 really came through for us.”
In the #97 Turner Motorsport/H&R Springs BMW M3, Anders Hainer and Boris Said diced with just about everyone in the top twenty as they fought to a well-earned eighth-place finish. With 82 cars starting the race, there were plenty of incidents and contact but Hainer and Said kept their cool and advanced up the running order. They ran as high as fourth and finished inside the top ten.
In the ST class, Will Turner and Don Salama capitalized on their second-row starting spot to keep the rest of the field behind them during the entire race. The Turner Motorsport/H&R Springs/Borla Exhaust BMW 330i never ran below fifth and was often seen making runs on the first place car. Turner and Salama are thrilled with their result but look forward to more races on tracks where the 330i will be more competitive.

“We never gave up the fight in this race and we had an awesome pit strategy and a great crew and all of that came together to put us at the top when it counted – at the checkered flag. We weren’t the fastest car here but we were the fastest BMW and that will come into play some other time. We’re very happy with the way the car handled thanks to H&R Springs and the performance of the car is encouraging for the rest of the season.”
