World Class Driving ad in C&D
Anybody seen/inquired about the ad in latest C&D regarding the opportunity to drive the following cars:
1) Ferrari F430
2) Ford GT
3) Lambo Gallardo
4) AM DB9 V
5) Bently GT
6) Corvette Z06
I went to the web site to see what this was all about. Basically for $795 (plus tax) you get a 1 day experience where you drive all 6 cars approx. 30 miles each over a selected public road course. about 20 cities so far scheduled (per web site) with anywhere from 1 to 3 day stints. They take 22-24 enthusiasts per event (day)...breakfast & lunch provided (along with some apparel and all requisite pics) and schedule drives throughout the day. As much a social event as a driving event. Being run by a French guy (or sounds french on the phone) who used to do this for Ferarri in Europe in the 90s. The guy gave several references and sounded legit. Starts in Raleigh, NC on April 29. They do corporate events...but in between those obligations they've scheduled individual events. Speeds are 45-70 mph. You drive alone but must follow lead car. Add'l occupant (no driving) is an add'l $250. Anybody out there done anything like this as all. I'm thinking about doing it but I'd be interested in hearing if any other enthusiasts have done something similar....and most importantly...was it worth it? Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

The World Class Driving ad is a scam. When you sign up they ask you to fax in a copy of your driver's license and sign a credit card authorization form and send that in as well. We called MasterCard because we thought it was odd that they were asking for the credit card authorization form AFTER they had already charged our card. MasterCard told us that the whole thing is an elaborate scam.

Calling MasterCard and getting their "perception" ain't quite the same thing as knowing what the hell you're talking about.

This is for real and not a scam....
I toyed w/ the idea of doing this and backed off when I thought it was a scam per earlier posts. I'd actually talked to the guy organizing this event (Jean Paul Ribert) and he sounded legit and even gave me references. Anyway, the event was planned here in North Carolina for this morning at 8:00. So I took my Z8 out just to satisfy my curiosity. You can imagine my surprise to see those beautiful cars in the parking lot. Just as I was turning in, they began pulling out. First the F430, then the DB9, Lambo, 612 Scag, Z06 and lastly the Bentley Continental GT. They must have replaced the Ford GT (as originally advertised) w/ the Scag. I had my nephew w/ me and we were thrilled to be driving along with these cars. They were all travelling in the right lane and I just drove slowly past in the left lane giving a thumbs up as I passed. At the first red light it was me and the F430. As the light turned green he floored it and totally smoked me. Caught me a little off guard, but I stayed within a car length or two. It was VERY cool. My nephew loved it. Anyway, for those interested in this event, I can attest to its legitimacy.

EVENT DAY
FORMATION
We have a multiple of 4 times people ( 1 car/4 people, 6 cars/24 people*, 12 cars/48 people )
Each driver will drive each one of the cars between 20 to 30 minutes. It depends on the local traffic and change during the day.
Your schedule will be available before the event or when you arrive at our registration and welcome desk
Drivers are split into groups of 6 people.
*Normal structure 6 cars with 24 people.
SCHEDULE
Breakfast from 7.00 am
Briefing for groups 1 & 2 will be at 7.20 am, groups 3 & 4 at 1:20pm
Groups 1 will start at 7:30am, group two at 8.00am, group 3 at 1:30pm and group 4 at 2:00pm
Between drives you can take advantage of the all day hospitality which includes breakfast, lunch, beverages, DVD's of the various manufacturers and the cars, related books, articles and magazines, choose the photographs for your personalized album which you can remember your day by, and the opportunity to discuss your comments and thought on each car with other drivers and guests.

You must follow the traffic law
The local Police is aware and will be watching closely
Over limit speed will exclude the participant immediately
The event does not have special traffic law
Insurance
$2,000.00 deductible
Insurance does not apply for over limit speed. The Driver will be fully responsible for all damages

I have signed up for this but never received an email confirmation of the transaction ( a few days ago)..I wanted a friend to sign up and started looking for a way to contact these guys to make sure I was confirmed for the date and cannot find a phone number listeda anywhere on the web site..where did you find the phone number to talk to the french guy?
