Mr.Craig Test drives new 2008 M3 and Alpina B7
at BMW's Ultimate Drive To Cure Breast Cancer
It was raining very bad yesterday here in South FL however I got a chance to drive the $125K Alpina in rain and all I have to say the new technology of DSC and DTC is awsome the car was glued to the wet
street as my buddy on the passinger seat stated to hit the gas hard to see it the car would slide any as I lauched the car from one traffic light to the next.
And as for the M3 I thought the car looked much better in person
however I feel that they could have give the car some more torque
as I felt the M3 should have more than 295tq. but I managed to churp the tire in second gear. the car really pulls strong as I got to drive the M3 on dry pavement as I took it throught it's paces as I did the car I drove at the plant at the 2003 8 fest in SC.
I feel that that the body of the car could have been a bit more dramatic with it being the latest M3
I feel that the M3 will have a hard time keeping up with the new Audi RS5 coupe that will be coming out as that car will be a TT V8 all wheel drive
Over all I was very impressed with the new M3 but I was also impress with the 335i TT drop top in which I think the perfermance is very close to the M3

Re: Mr.Craig Test drives new 2008 M3 and Alpina B7
So Craig.............are you saying that a TT is in your future???
the 335i is an awesome machine ! many tuners
got 375HP and loads of torque out of the engine w/o major (internal) modifications.
The pwerformance of the 335i Coupe with a proper wheel/tire package and a LSD rear diff is 95% of the new M3.
The 135i is 98% so BMW will have a hard time justifing the price on the M3. The carbon roof and other really cool upgrades are the visible and the awesome V8 is the non visible differences but when you drive the car it is excellent. The M3 isn't bad or anything the 335 and 135 is Soooo good that it is almost M3.
But the M3 is a vastly different animal, almost no suspension parts are same as 335. The problem is most people do not care as most M3 owners will NEVER track the car or drive it as it was intended.
no roads and way too many cops out there to do that.
performance school is the only way but for that sole purpose the price tag is large<a href="http://mydrive.roadfly.com/photos/pic.php?u=56726KDZYN&i=8969"><img src="http://mydrive.roadfly.com/photos/pic.php?u=56726KDZYN&i=8969" border="0"></a>
