the light. Figure 7 dollars a quart x 7 plus a 12.00 dollar filter. roughly $60.00 in parts and maybe 30 minutes of shop time. most of the time one guy is changing 4 or 5 cars at a time. Oil changes are a real profit center for a dealer. You have two choices. DIY or do what I do with my Jeep, (the X3 still gets free oil changes), go to Wal-Mart. 6 quarts of Mobil One and I bring my own filter. I'm out the door for about $55.00

DIY!!!! oil at costco is less than 5 a quart. filter is 9 bucks at the dealer. you can figure out how to reset the clock on the web. it's a no brainer!
I did the oil change on my wife's X3. Then took it to the dealership and had the lights reset. They don't even use a tool now. It is done somehow on the dashboard. I wasn't able to see what he pushed to do it.
Oil filter with BMWCCA discount was around $7 I think.

If you believe BMW when they say it only requires oil changes very, very, very, very infrequently then $135 sounds fairly reasonable. It is, after all, five 3K oil changes in one!
What a deal and you should get a cup of coffee and a cookie to boot.
That's only $27 per change which is about the same as a quickie lube place. Those quickie places, however, know how to reset BMWs although I don't know if the X3 has some kind of super duper new procedure.
