Thinking of selling E24 & buying E34 M5....
...has anyone here been there, done that? Would I regret selling my solid, no problem 635 for something I would regret? I am aware of most inherent M5 issues, but are there any problems anyone has had they were not expecting?
Thanks for all replies.....
I have both....and they are
very different cars, and I love both.
The E24 is my daily driver - a 1979 635CSi I have owned for eight years. The M5 is kept in the garage for drives to work once a week and/or special trips and weekend drives.
I would hate to choose between the two, but if I did... honestly - would probably keep the E24. Don't get me wrong, I am devoted to the M5.

Test drive a nice E34M5 and when you can't swipe the smile off your face the choice will be easy...lol
Really, up through 92, the M5 is akin to your 635. While the M's are a race car...a souped up version of your 635...
Go ahead, take the plunge...besides, these cars are at historic lows price wise..sure the p.o is going to take it in the shorts, but heck, you'll get a great deal!!

Many M5's are higher mileage and have been around the block a few times. The good ones are few and far between. They are great cars but make sure you hold out for a good one if it means giving up a nice, no stories, solid E24. You already own a great car!
You'll regret it if you can get the smile off your
Did it - no regrets......
I picked up a 91 M5 with 102k. Wow - I am impressed and totally happy with it. Sold the 635 to a young fellow who was absolutely thrilled to get it. I guess everyone's happy.
