Brief two articles in this months Road and Track on the new 7er. This time out (unlike the E65/E66) they are singing its praises for design and features they even like the new I-drive interface.
But in another article they say there will be no 760 or V12 variation. I am guessing they will offer a supercharger version to compete with the S63.
I've read elsewhere (forgot where?) that the V12 will come later. I don't see BMW abandoning the V12. It's too important for the "prestige factor" in this segment.
I tend to agree with both statements; however I read it twice in road and track.
I probably have seen a total of a dozen 760's in the past few years. I don’t think they sell many at all. On the flip side I see many S600's. It will be interesting to see the variations of the new 7er that are released.
Put me down for an AWD sport package LWB with rear electric seats and rear entertainment package.

According to Roundel article, BMW says a non-convincing "maybe" to an eventual V12.
With the V8 now over 400 hp a twelve is not necessary, but it does provide a "status" factor. They will lose a few sales to Mercedes, whose S-Class offers two 12 cylinder versions (S600 & S65).
My guess is BMW does plan to release the CS, with a twelve cylinder, for those who want to move upscale.
I'm still uptight about the fact that the new cars don't debut until a month before my lease is up. I don't want to order a car until I see it in person, so I can effectively choose colors, wheels and options. Plus, the money factor is typically ridiculous for the first six months of a new model, and the whole "beta-testing" thing with a new model....Not excited.
... if you'd be willing to beta test one for one, so that I can make a more informed decision when the lease on my 6 is up in November, '09. Thanks in advance.<small>
