Ok, Ok, here is question for all 4 e21 owners!
There has to be more than 4 of us out here!
Anyway, does anyone have a good way to clean white vinyl headliner. I have tried a coupla things, but there has to be a magic bottle of something so my neck dont cramp looking up and scrubbing, only to find what I am using aint workin.
I've used 409 all-purpose cleaner
Only four of us? This is a sad era. Anyway, try 409 for general grunge and shmutz. However, if there are greasy stains, I don't have recommendations. For grease on hard surfaces or machine parts, I often use Xylene, but it is such a potent solvent, it may damage the headliner.
My 320i has been under the car cover for a month but I'll rotate it into commuter service next week.
Aha!! Found the answer..................
Used the stuff a mechanic uses to clean his hands after a days work....the hand cleaner with the pumice in it. Headliner is now back to white with minimal scrubbing. Amazing what you think of while trying to get grease out from under fingernails................

My wife is a big fan of those 'Mr Clean' magic erasers. I know it souds odd, but it works! I tried everything, and then she gave me one of those and all you have to do is rub it on the headliner. Ta-DA! I was really impressed!
