I am new to the BMW world and considering buying a 5 series. Can someone tell me the differences between all the series, 525, 530, 540 and on? I am looking at a 2001.

The various models refer to the size of the engine. %@%'s and 530's are inline sixes and the 540 is a V8. I can't believe no one responded to your question.
