$450.00for a rear wheel bearing replacement!
I just wanted to have some opinions from members of the forum if this repair seems reasonable.
I have a 2000 328I that needs the rear wheel bearing replaced, A private service garage quoted me $450.00 for the bearing, Hub labor and Taxes here in Dallas, does this sound reasonable? the noise coming from the wheel is terrible so I need it replaced ASAP.
Comments are highly appreciated

maybe I'm missing something but parts are about...
$100.00 and a skilled tech could do the job in about 1 hr tops...sounds like a rip-off to me. Have you called your dealer to get an estimate for comparative purposes? Is your hub damaged? Were you quoted on replacement of both sides. When 1 side goes the other is usually not far from going too. Please report back what happens.

Re: maybe I'm missing something but parts are about...
This is only for 1 side, and the hub is damaged, the $450,00 would include Bearing, hub and labor, seems everywhere I have gone they all quote $350.00 and above for the whole thing, no one has quoted me under the mentioned ball park.
Thanks
Alfredo
I'd guess that a hub is at least $100 and they
must be figuring 2 hrs labor. Maybe "the book" calls for 2 hours but anyone that's done the job before can likely knock it out in half that. With the hub included in the deal, $350 not so bad.

What Dallas shop? I may have some other
Just looked in my handy Bentley manual
(tks again Chip!). 350-450 with parts isn't surprising from what I can see of the procedure.

Name is Hans Auto in Addison, but he seems a bit abusive, its on Addison Road, do you have any recommendations?
Autohans is a good shop, I have known the owner
for about 9 yesrs and their work is good. Most shops charge the book rate for labor. Don't expect them to charge less because the tech can do it is less time. I listed some other shops in your other posts, call them and compare prices. For that price you could buy the bearing extractor tool and then you would have it if the other side goes out. 95 525i
