Good for you? What is a shaved door?
Sorry for my ignorance, but what is a shaved door? Anyway, great that you are so energetic - keep those cars running.
Re: Good for you? What is a shaved door?
Sorry, i didnt mean to come off all like that.. Just found this site and its badass! The 82 i actually bought to build for my mom, everytime she sees mine, she threatens to steal it... my 77 has been on the back burner while ive been building my truck. I finally got my truck on the road a few weeks ago and the 82 popped up, "id be a fool to not have jumped on that deal". heh, and now that i have that, the burn to get my 77 back together took ahold of me. the stock 82 feels like snail [Oops!].
sorry, "shaved door handles". removed outside door handle and lock, weld in the hole's. solenoid, poppers and transmitter.
Found some of the older FAQs for the USA 320i
I found another FAQ that may contain some of the letters from the old E21 digest. But the links to searchable archives do not work. They say that anything posted to the internet lives forever, and I suppose the old digests are somewhere on a server, but whether anyone could retrieve them is another question.
89 5-series 2.8 into '77 3-series not good idea
The '89 has an OBD I computer and fuel injection control, along with electronic ignition. The wiring harness is so radically different that I doubt you can get the 2.8 to work in the 3 (although the engine itself can be made to fit.) There are better projects to work on than this.
The brakes probably can't be made to work, either - the cars have different hubs (5-bolt rather than 4-bolt) that I don't think will fit. You'd also need the 5-series booster and stuff, since it's 4-wheel disk rather than disk/drum.
