Kevin, I have a 2001 i but it is not a sport.
If the car you are looking at has that many miles on it and it checks out fine then you are looking at a car that could very well take you to the 300k mark. The main thing you need to check on is the cooling system and if the radiator and all of the other components have been replaced at least once then you should be good to go. The other thing to check is the steering and suspension parts which again if they have been checked out and you have no "shimmy" issues now then you should be OK.
I have all of the service records for my car and it currently has 128k on it and I plan on driving it for at least that many more miles. Go to e38.org and read the list of problems that we all encounter with these cars and you will see what needs checking on or over. These are wonderful cars and this is my second, I hate the look of the e65 7 series and that is why I plan on keeping what I have. It still looks and drives like new. I have replaced the stock basketweaves with the staggered M-Pars that are on the sport models and have all of the options offered that last year with the exception of a heated steering wheel.
Good luck on your purchase and hope you enjoy the ride,
Bob
