Re: Frit, now that u bought them, this will be the 1st
Better ready than not. If we don't get snow, alright by me. I don't like the cold anymore; it's pretty to look at but when I am the one who has to clear the drives and walk ways in my neighborhood, I am out in the stuff for hours. Wish I had a second house in a warm climate for the winter. As hot and dry as it has been here this summer, we will probably get slammed in the winter like Feb. last year...all of us mid western and eastern residents remeber that now, don't we...36 inches of snow on the ground at one time...what the helll....bbbbbbrrrrrrrrr.Fritracer

how many miles did you put on the Blizs?
Holy sht new Blizzaks are expensive!!
I paid $60 each from Tirerack for my WS50s in July 2008, new ones are $165 each!
Just today swapped out my summer tires with the Blizs for what will be the 3rd winter on them. It's my wife's DD, and she puts ~4000 miles per winter on the car. They look virtually brand new after 8000 miles, hopeing to get a bunch more winters out of them!
Wish I could say the same for the Continental summers I just took off.... they'll probably need replacing next spring, but I suppose ~30,000 miles isn't too bad.
Last winter was a once in 100 year winter (m)
for southern Ohio. A repeat of last season is not likely:))

Yeah, last winter was my first one in 4 years. The others were spent in Iraq/Hawaii...man I was NOT ready for the cold!!<br>

Know the feeling, I was in Iraq
in 2005. I cannot stand the cold now. I guess 130 degrees in the shade does something permanent to your body. We have had upper 30's this weekend and it SUCKED. Had to be out working on wifes Suburban early (7 a.m.) and it was cold before the sun came up. I am not looking forward to winter, especially since I haven't had a chance to fix the snow blower and now I won't be able to get to it until at least Dec. since I am having major shoulder surgery this Thursday and doc said I am done for at least 2 months. I bought my WS50's as a tire package in
Nov 2005 from Tire Rack; cost all of $700 with alloy wheels. They have over 50,000 miles and I barely made it thru the snows last year. Man, I just about hurled when pricing snows this year. Money is very tight and the wifes Suburban needed tires this fall also. That is why I went with the Kumho's. I was able to buy the my Kumho winters and Yokohama Geolander H/T-S Go51's for the 'Burban delivered to my door for $740. Walmart here charged $13 per tire to mount and balance. Geolander's were rated very high on Tire Racks site. They ride very nice so far; I'll see how they do with milage.I will have the Kumho's on in late November. I will post initial results then; just remeber, these are dedicated winter tires, not high performance winter tires, so I know I will loss a lot of the sporty feel.Fritracer

Christ, I wish I only put 5k miles on the car over
winter; more like 10-12k; got to love the Iowa trips! Know the feeling of the winter tires, but as you said, the car goes thru anything with them on; I have never been stuck with winter tires on; I have actually snow plowed with the front bumper pushing the snow in some drifts.Fritracer
