anyone running a e30 m20b25 and..

...can tell me what kinda oil temps they are seeing in what environment? I had my m20b25 powered '02 at the track today, it was about 34celcius outside, after 7 or 8 laps (around 1:15 laptimes) I had the oil temps approaching 240degrees. I'm not sure what is 'normal' for these engines or what is considered scary territory. But previous to this I had not tracked the car with this engine, and had only gotten it to about 185degrees on the street. Normal temps seem to be around 170. I do NOT have the oil cooler installed, otherwise it would not have gotten that hot. Using Mobil1 15w50 if you are interested.. I was hauling some major [Oops!] though :)

That seems a bit hot to me....Thats more than what our M3 runs....

And BTW, install that M20 oil cooler back...

Okay, the whole story is that the m20 is in my '72 02/m20. Combine the added time to put it in, plus the added room needed, plus the inability to figure out exactly what threads are on the filter mount housing so I can convert to -AN and put a Mocal or Setrab unit in there....well....I just took the entire think off and ran without a cooler.

Back to figuring out what kinda fitting it needs I guess :)

I've seen it as high as 260F near the end of a 25-minute session at the track where the air temp was in the 100-105F range.
