Bay Area, Whare do you get your car serviced?

Its about time for the M3 to get serviced, and thanks to all of my prior bad experiences with dealers, I think i should get some input. Where do you go to get your car serviced? Do they do a good job? And, Do you know of a good service writer there?

Definitely give Motor Speed West a try. They always do a good job for me and customer service is excellent.

Yea, I don't think they do warranty work. I got all of my warranty work done at Stevens Creek BMW.

For warranty work I prefer peter pan bmw.. all non warranty work is done at dinan in mountian view.

MotorSpeed West in San Jose ( near the airport ) . I have used them for major M5 work and recently on my 2000 740i sport. I found them about 4 years. A bmw sales guy I know said that this is where he and many of the other sales guys ( from the same local deal ) take their car... Ask for Anthony.

have always been very happy with the service department. the svc mgr is a great lady. they try to do it right and if there's a problem will work to fix it...that's about all you can ask imo.

i live in marin and it is convenient.

If you want an Independent BMW Shop, Bill Arnold's shop in San Rafael is the finest you will find. His phone is 415 459 2697. He is located in the Woodland shopping/ind. park off Anderson: next to Jackson's Hardware store. As you can tell from my list of cars- I do not know about Dealer shops- only their parts departments. If you call Bill- tell him Jay- Inka A4 recommended him to you. There are other fine Independents in the Bay Area, but Bill surpasses them all, in many peoples' opinion. Good luck.///

During the time I used them they damaged my car on multiple occasions (including, almost every time I brought it in, leaving black grease marks all over inside the tan interior), were less educated on TSBs then some other local dealers (had things fixed subsequently at other dealers), and really really gauge people on non warranty repairs, the prices are ridicuous.

A long time ago I posted my problems with them and in turn received many email from people who had similar experiences, so I know I was not alone. As for car damage, just stand outside and watch the parking guys for awhile and you'll see why - aside from the varisou damage to my car, I've personally witnessed other peoples cars wheel's being rashed, told them inside, and nothing was done - they did not seem to care at all.

They do not do delivery walk around sheets so its impossible to hold them to any damage that is done while the car is in their care. After having to deal with that I went to SF BMW who does do the walk around inspection sheets at least. Its not as convenient, but if you set the appt in advance you can arrange to have a loaner car.<img src="http://marcchu.com/eval/evalsig.jpg">

I second that. I bought my 330Ci from them. The service dept. is a joke.

Cannot disagree more. Had to take my car back in for more work on two occasions. Would not recommend them at all.

I dropped by on a Saturday without an appointment for a simple oil change. They said they could get me in and out within 1-2 hours, which I didn't have a problem since I didn't have an appointment to begin with. The service advisor told me they would notify me when my car was ready. I told them I would be in their lounge. Well, they never told me my car was ready. I only found out when I stared outside the window and saw my car parked in their parking lot. Very unprofessional!
