If you live within 100km of Toronto, then yes, everything gets expensive, otherwise not so bad I'd say.
Property-wise, even Toronto is a bargain compared to areas of Vancouver.
It's all relative man....compared to say Southern California. Ont. is cheap
If I remember correctly you moved from mississippi to Guelph
Guelph is fairly inexpensive compared to downtown Toronto
If you're complaint is fluctuating gas prices, well you have a 12 cylinder to feed
In most guelph driveways 12 cylinders are split among 3 or 4 cars
Most big cities carry a heavier price tag.
Compare Toronto (TO) to Vancouver (YVR):
But drive 50 km outside of either and house prices drop 100k and gasoline drops a dime.
Hydro costs about 13% more in TO when compared to YVR but this probably reflects climate and not actual cost per GJ. Medicare costs a family $108 monthly in BC while it is an ~2% tax in Ontario.... so on average less in Ontario.
Try LA where fuel costs are 78.9 and homes average just over $400k but maybe Seattle is a more realistic comparison because of population similarities... average homes cost $380k! But gasoline is a more reasonable 63/litre.
All prices corrected to CDN dollars.
Most importantly what is the average cost of a BMW in Ontario when compared to Vancouver!? Ontario offers free rust on their offerings ;-)
Just another smartas$ from Montreal
