carter fuel pump mounting
I have read the archives about electric vs. mechanical and decided that I am going with the Carter 4070 from Top End Performance. My question is where to mount it?? I had to do an emergency repair with the cheap Facet Pump and mounted it above the tank on the passenger wheel well in the trunk. Can I put the Carter 4070 in the same place??

Hey C.D.- I know the benefits of your argument from the archives. Question- i have a E12 head, so do I need the longer rod to pump the mechanical fuel pump or the shorter one??? I am looking to upgrade to a Lynx- will the Pierburg keep up with it???

if you want one, get it.
I've been runing a carter from TEP for the last 8 years on my 76 with out any problem. Ever. I have mine mounted forward of the brake fluid res on the inner fender. In hindsight, I'd mount it in the trunk because it's kind of loud up front.
One nice thing about an electric pump, is that you can put a secret killswitch somewhere that only you know about. no power to pump and someone tries to steal the car, they get a couple hundred feet and it dies....

Re: Electric fuel pump mounting =Let me talk you out>
The carter fuel pump isnt designed for a BMW despite what racetep claims. With out headers on your car all you can hear is the annoying fuel pump noise at idle. Its shouldnt be mounted in the trunk or front. I even called racetep I was told to mount it the engine compartment. I mounted it there within a year I am short of $100 for this pump. Once again this pump isnt meant for a bmw. The instructions that came with the car say install should be within 3 feet of gas tank and below.

Electric fuel pump mounting = just like any other
just like all the old electronic snd CIS fuel injected car, (wow - just like a tii also) Beer C. Billy is correct also - put OUTSIDE , down next to the gas tank. Noise is isolated, lots of air to cool it, and down low so gravity feed from the tank keeps the supply hose filled . Mount it JUST LIKE A tii ALSO - USE RUBBER MOUNTINGS . GOOD LUCK
