    It's very easy

It's so easy... you only need a few things.

E39 oil change (V8) (Scroll half way down the page.)

Should take you under an hour. With the BMWCCA discount, the oil is under $4 a quart at BMW Seattle. With the filter kit and the eight quarts for the V8, I spend under $45.M.Wong

    Yup

Mine takes 8 quarts of oil and the filter kit that comes with an O-ring for the filter housing, and a new crush washer for the drain plug.

I use a jack and jack stands, a screwdriver to open the lower engine hatch, a socket for the drain plug, and the slip wrench from the trunk tool kit (and a rag to protect the plastic) for the filter housing cap, and a funnel. That's it!

E32 owner here..not sure if you've already done the oil change, but I am willing to let my garage be used for a short time if need be. Im always interested in lending a hand and checking out a fellow BMW owners car..

    Regards,

    Re: my e39 oil change

I just wanted to let you guys know, that its a better idea to use 15W40 Oil on all 99 and older BMW's. They don't require the newer syn.oil, and it'll save you some money. 15W40 is normally used on diesel veichles, high out put 4cyc engines and most pre-2000 bmw's and mercedes.
