Need an advise on Ebay cars
hi, guys.
i love 740il model s~~~~~o much :-) and to own this car has been on the top of my wishlists.
anyway, to make a long story short, i have been observing 1 ownered 2000 740IL(75K) on Ebay, the seller has 100% positive feedbacks(most of them are describing more than good like "terrefic, awesome, great, excellent, A++++, and blha blha blha"... as u guys know well)
pics they posted are really looking great and they provide 6 months warranty. car fax comments r also great(pls look at this...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWA%3AIT
my concerns are like this....
1. can I really trust the vehicle condition as described on the ebay?
(the dealer e-mailed back to my concern saying that 'if u look at those feedbacks we'v got from the buyers, u can trust us!)
2. the dealer and car are located in Houston, Texas but I am living in Victoria BC, Canada. according to them, the shipping cost about $1500. but the problem is that what if the car is different from what I saw on the pics or expected after taking over it?
3. the dealer set a "Buy-it-Now" price on it, which is $21,490.
what I don't understand is that, according to Kelly Blue Book, this model(2000 740IL) cost more than $30K. why is this cheaper than the market price? how come?
Is this "Buy-it-Now" price negotiable before bid ending?
It would be appreciated for any comments and advises on this...
Thanks for your patience for long message...

Ebay bewares
Especially for cars, boats, airplanes, - never, ever, buy unseen...invest in the trip, scrutinize it like you were paying with your blood, etc...ALWAYS suspect cars in southeast US to be Flood resurrections. In short- go see it, be there and watch an independent evaluation / inspection, and consider this- there are lots of slicky / tricky people making a VERRRRY good living off Ebay ops

Re: Ebay bewares
I agree, invest in a plane ticket. I bought my 2000 740il (from Texas also) I gave a 1,000 down payment, paid the local BMW dealer the 200 PPI cost and flew down after I got satisfactory report from the PPI. I bought a certified check with me so I could close the deal right there and meet with the delivery men. I arrived at 10AM, drove the car for a few hours, went back to the dealer to close the deal. The dealer took me to lunch (Rainforest, nice place), then we watched to transporters load the car and take it away. I felt very comfortable with my purchase then as I do now (a year later). the peace of mind was well worth the $500 (trip and PPI). I got back hom ethat night around 9pm, tired but happy (take teh manu

Re: Need an advise on Ebay cars
I have had a friend who bought a 3 series off of ebay out of Texas, he flew to Texas to pick the car up drove it back to nebraska and then found out that the car was in an accident or something; he wound up taking the vehicle back. I had another friend who bought a 01 7 off of ebay out of Texas and the vehicle was beautiful; this was last year and it had only 17000 miles. I bought a convertible off of ebay and have been happy with it for the past 2 years. I just read the feedback as I do with everything on ebay, and bid. Feedback from people that have done business with the individual is about the only insurance you have as to their dealings and ethics.
Hope this helps.
