    Coolant Leak

I have searched and searched the archives. I think I may have found the answer to my question but I want to make sure. I have a coolant leak near the back of my engine. It is a slow leak, every few days there is a small puddle of coolant on the garage floor. In talking to a few friends they suggested that there is a plate? at the back of the cylinder head that will sometimes develop a leak. Today after leaving the car sit for a few days I took a look in the valley at the back of the engine and I can see some coolant pooling back there, no pooling at the front of the engine. My question is the part name or number. Is this the crosspipe gasket that is leaking or is there something else back there that I can't see. I looked in the Bentleys' manual but that didn't help. Thanks.

    Sean & Johans page

Go here and look under engine/v-12 rebuild and you should be able to see
your area of concern. The go to the parts data base to what you need

Thank you. I was looking at that site but didn't see that pic. That helps a great deal.

    Is your Coolant Reservoir leaking????

I recently noticed coolant leaking from what appeared to be the rear of the engine. Turns out there's a crack in the bottom of my coolant reservoir and the stuff drips down and the puddle appears to be in back. Could this be the problem with your 740?

I bet your water pump is going to go out soon

Water pumps for your car are designed to leak before they fail.

Re: Is your Coolant Reservoir leaking????

No unfortunately the reservoir is not leaking, that would be a lot simpler. Looking at it again with the coolant pooling in the valley between the heads I am wondering if it is the accumulator O ring leaking and not the plate at the back of the block.
