Fixing crack from differential in Bavaria
Hello. I am considering buying a Bavaria. Rust looks good, but (I mentioned this in another post) there is a crack where it looks like someone jacked it up by the differential (I guess this happens?). Is that fixable by welding the crack and adding a stiffening plate? Or should I leave this good deal for someone else to buy?
Thanks...
p.s. Are there any other E3 forums? I hsve seen seniorsix.org. but didn't see any forum...

Re: Fixing crack from differential in Bavaria
There are no boards for e3's, you have to join the mailing list. Instructions are on the website.
If the crack you are talking about is in the subframe where the diff mounts, yes it can be welded, no big deal. If the diff itself is cracked, you should replace it. Unless it is an LSD it will be inexpensive.

Re: Fixing crack from differential in Bavaria
Thanks for the replies. It is not the differential that is cracked. It is a 3-4" crack in front of the gas tank in the sheetmetal. The car does not look bent like it has been hit, and that appears to be the only spot in the car that has rust. YThe car is kind of a beater, but it runs well, has a lot of extra parts. I am looking for an SCCA racer or a car to do the One Lap in. I would prefer a pre-74, but I am fortunate to not have any emissions whatsoever that I have to deal with :)
