The fellow who left a message for me was Alan and I'm in the West. Probably 100% commission sales so turnover will be high. Based on the comments at this web site I'll give them a pass!!

Re: Anybody heard of Longwood Industries?

Got a call from Alan. Returned his call and spoke with Wendy. She promised a full refund if they did not get me a buyer within 14 days. Says she has lots of buyers for the price I0 have on my truck. I gave her a c.card for $99. She said she would email me my contract. Never received it so I called her today and and she informed me that I must submit a photo of the truck and also requested in writing and snail mail it to her within 14 days to get a refund. Also when I looked at the form it states that I will get a refund LESS $25. This company is bad news...save your money.

Re: Anybody heard of Longwood Industries?

There's no need to discuss if this is a scam or not. It's clearly a shady business that crawls craigslist and other auto classifieds sites looking for phone numbers to call with their auto dialer, and tries to get them to sell their vehicle on their site.

I listed a vehicle for sale on craigslist and created a new voip phone number specifically for this listing. Nobody else even knows the phone number exists - these sheisters are the only that call it with their asinine auto-dialer.

So, whenever I have some spare time, I call up their customer service and play back the identical voicemail that "Alan" leaves for me, with his statements-that-sound-like-question type of tone. This is Alan?? I'm calling about your vehicle?? We're a registered 501c3 so we can do this to you??

[Oops!] you Alan and Longwood industries - die a slow and miserable death.

Re: Anybody heard of Longwood Industries?

"Alan" just left a phone message re the sale of our "vehicle", posted on Craig's List and in our local newspaper, inferring they had people interested in buying it. As our vehicle was not referenced by make, Maserati, I was suspicious. After finding this website I have decided that Alan's call will definately not be returned.

Re: Anybody heard of Longwood Industries?

thebiglot.com and auto hopper.com are better services with better refund policies than you can get anywhere else. try getting a refund from a news paper ad ( which someone actually has to OPEN to look for a vehicle) I ahve sold over ten cars in the last 3 years with these sites and have never had any success with auto trader which is FILLED with dealer ads.

Re: Anybody heard of Longwood Industries? UPDATE

I posted my M3 for sale through Longwood Industries 3 weeks ago. Originally contacted by Robert about potential buyers wanting my car. Longwood apparently is a reseller of www.thebiglot.com and autohopper.com.

Today I sold the car to a buyer they connected me with via a want ad placed on their site. I was concerned that some people here called this a scam. I placed my ad before finding these posts and am interested if anyone has actually used them (and been scammed by them). My card has only been charged the $99.99 I agreed to pay. I will keep an eye on it, but I have only had a pleasant, effective experience to date.

I found this page with potential buyers:
    http://www.thebiglot.com/wanted/wantAds_main.asp

    My verdict: Not a scam.

Re: Anybody heard of Longwood Industries?

I also got a call from "alan" about my 65 belair, which I listed in the local AUTO TRADER.

My issue isn't so much with these guys as they appear to be just another online advertising site which has a pro-active client seeking system (although I don't agree with this type of telemarketing it is not a scam or illegal and if you look at that BBB link you can see that most of the complaints were rectified)

I think what people should really ask is whether or not the AUTO TRADER sells our information to these people as potential customers, or if they just do a lot of ad surfing. If you actually read the previous post 85% of them claim they had recently posted an ad with AUTO TRADER or a local newspaper and BAM the next day they get the same call all of us did.

Now I'm no rocket surgeon but I highly doubt that these guys have the man power or work ethic to search every news paper and auto trader from the east coast to the west coast of both Canada and the US to find these people to call.

I have a suspicion that the companies we list with compile a list of potential customers for these companies, and then sell them, to them.

I for one will think twice before listing an ad with Auto trader or these purported "free" auto listing websites again.

    just my 2 cents.

Probably smells fishy, too... the truck, I mean.

I got the same automated call from "Allen." I listed my car with cars.com and thus won't bother with Longwood Industries, but Longwood does appear legit. See the response to the "Rip Off Report" by Longwood director Renee Fisher:

Re: Anybody heard of Longwood Industries?

    Biglot.com is Longwood Industries.

Not sure if they are a scam but like everyone else "Allan" has called me repeatedly.

If it sounds too good to be true.......probably is. I have an RX 8 for sale and they keep asking me if I have a chev for sale.

I've had another terrible internet buying experience with WorldWideStores............haven't figured out how to post this on the net though.

Re: Anybody heard of Longwood Industries?

Iam posting from the okanagan in British Columbia Canada I have recieved three calls now from allan indicating that he has buyers for my vehicle the odd thing is that Im selling a 31 foot boat. This would suggest to me that he is not reading ads but as someone said earlier buying our names and phone numbers from our advertizers. Im not sure about you guys but there is a specific area in our contracts that says they will not sell your imfo. I will be contacting Buy and Sell,Craigs List and Auto Trader plus Boat World to find out who breached our agreement.I will be asking for a refund and will let you know how I make out. Allan Longwood is just another one of those if it sounds to good to be true it probably is and imagine how many people will be getting your imfo. from him!!!!

Re: Anybody heard of Longwood Industries?

Just keep in mind you have to ask for your refund 10 days before your 30 days is up. I got suckered and I have had not hits on my car from this site. Your better off with auto trader.
