Re: New 130i M Sport-turbo 330hp
With 330hp and over 300 lb.ft to play with,I say it will get low 5 secs to 60,and around 11 to the ton.
Autocar has been wrong also before..
The prototype 135TI pictured in that issue is by far the meanest looking 1er yet! Easily more aggressive (and cheaper) than the expensive Hartge H1 5,0.

With estimated 330-340hp from just 6 cylinders ane 3 ltrs, the 135Ti is the ultimate turbo-BMW! Its power to weight ratio means it will outgun the e90 330d,trash the 535d and perhaps even the E46M3.. And this is just the beginning! BMW test also with 2,0L I4 and 4,0 V8 turbopetrols. Guessing their potential: a stout 225hp / 210tq for the 120Ti and a massive 450hp / 420tq for the 540Ti!

Re: New 130i M Sport-turbo 330hp
I don't understand how this car can be so slow.
My 1999 MCoupe with 240hp and ~250kbs/ft of torque did 0-60 runs of 5.1secs repeatedly. 13.9 quarter mile. The 130 should be sub-5 secs. The 135 should be closer to 4 secs. How much does this thing weigh anyway?
The MCoupe weighed around 3150lbs.

somehwat, er, lukewarm review on Timesonline

This guy really seems to have it out for the 1er - I was totally happy with my rented 118d over the course of a 3700km tour from eastern Germany through Southern France and back that finished up a few days ago. Non-sport suspension/wheels, flip up navi (though Eurpocar wouldn't give me the freakin code to eject the DVD and play music!!), sunroof... averaged a bit over 60mph and 38mph over 3700km. Really nice car for such a trip, even if the diesel motor didn't satisfy the soul much through mountain passes.
eh, if you've got the cash and want a really fast and funky hatch, why not a 130iM...

First road test of the 130i with the new but gener
The 130i is almost as quick as the only a little more expensive but roomier and less powerful e90 330i,and quicker than the cheaper 325i which has an all new mag motor.
The 130i loses abt half sec to wheelspin as the UBER-skinny 205-tires try to find traction. With a wider rubber it'd be a be a mid-five sec ride, but now it slots between the 330i and 325i in performance.
The fact that 1er is slower than the 3er, despite its 7 hp, 11 ft lb power advantage and 100 lb weight advantage is a direct result in the decision to fit the ridiculously narrow tires!
Ride is very hard despite the ultra-modest rubber, so if u fit performance tires, it might be way too extreme for everyday driving.
