yo bud... had the same problem with my 735i where the 'emergency' unlocking procedure didnt work... i took apart the light inside the trunk - real easy - cover just clips off - then got my cousin to run 12 volts through it whilst i stood with my key in the door... hey presto.

For some reason if the battery is still holding...
a small charge, the emergency unlock proedure will not work on my E34 cars. I find that when I disconnect the battery altogether, it always works without fail, but if the battery is connected but very weak, it will not work. I have had to lift the front of the car to get booster cables or my battery charger cables on to the starter, to provide power to unlock the doors. Either that or wait another two or three weeks for the battery to be completely dead / drained enough for the emergency unlock procedure to work.
