Device under E34 M5 seats?

Does anyone know what this device (see pic) is under the M5 seats?

Under the Driver's seat resides the memory computer for the seat position memory option. It is behind a black plastic panel.

Under the Passenger seat resides a first aid kit - generally with a red cross on the front top of the black kit.

Fire Extinguisher (BMW's recommended installation location)resides under the Driver's Thigh Bolster.

Richard, can't get into snapfish on the link. Can you describe what you are curious about? Does it have about 5 electrical connectors coming in on the front top edge under the driver's seat?

Gary, its black and about the size and shape of a snuff can. It houses a retractable cable with a cleavus like connector. There is one under each front seat on the right side.

If you have electric seats, it sounds like you are describing one of the motors for the seat control functions. There are two in the back of the seat to control the headrest and seat back angle, three in the frames of the seats to control fore/aft, front and rear seat height, and one up under the front of the seat to control the thigh bolster. I think this is what you are looking at.

Otherwise, maybe there is a Skol logo on the can!

Gary the device is mounted on the floor UNDER the seats. It is not attached to or part of the seats.

Bingo! Its the gizmo that adjusts the height of the D ring on the B pillar as the seat is adjusted front to rear.

Now that we know what that thing is... as far as I know this device was unhooked when I took my seats out for recovering. Where do I re-attach the device when I put the seats back? Thanks for the reply!

pin goes thru cable end to frame of seat, flip type clip locks it in place.
