I'm sure you've seen the same pictures of that guy in Europe I believe with the 645CSi (or the e24 with the turbo'd 7 series engine)
I always thought it looked strange, but it's actually quite nice.

Friends from CO that come to most of the west coast 6er meets, Gene (photographer) and Cindy (driving). The car is an 84 Euro M635 CSi done in Agate Green (darker than my Cypress Green), with black buffalo interior. It's in great shape, just turned 100k on their way to Vegas a few weeks ago. Sharkfest West was a blast once again ;-]

Shadowline (blacked out) trim does look good but depends greatly on the color of the car as well. There is no way in hell that black trim would look good on my green 6er for instance. The same would be true of using clear corner lenses, as these only look "right" on certain color cars as well. MHO applies here, of course :)

You can accomplish the look in a variety of ways, including the tape method you mention. In addition, some have actually removed and somehow painted their trim black, but I would be suspect as to how long either of these methods would work in the long run. The best (and most expensive) way to do it is to acually buy the trip pieces and have them installed. This was done by a local M6 owner, must've cost him upwards of a grand to get all the parts :(

To each his/her own, I guess.

If you did that to your car it would look terrible along with the clear corners...unless you put on a 3" dia exhaust,tinted the windows and turned your hat sideways. Yours looks like a restoration, rather than a modification.
Well, I thought that was your wife in the other picture maybe it was a picture of your mistress,( M635 CSi done in Agate Green). I tried

I think that kind of stuff looks good on vehicles that are like white, black or silver, but not actual primary colors, if you get my drift. I also have a Dakota pickup that is silver and I put clear corners on that. And it looks great!

I'll try and keep my baseball cap pointing forward ;-]

I guess it would look a bit awkward on the primary colors!
Emma's an 88 e28 Super ETA, meaning she's a "grocery" getter.
BUT, she has the Super ETA, meaning it's a "hybrid"...
It has the bottom end of a normal ETA with the top end of (I believe) a 325i. Horsepower numbers are at 121 in the manual but I believe they were too lazy to print out new manuals with updated numbers for the car.
I think it's pushing more around 150 or so?
But it's near 200 torque, not bad I suppose.
Bronzit Beige of course, the most common color for the e28 I think.
I must get a fully reliable car and a fat income before thinking about getting that e24 ///M6 ;]
