Anyone use the OEM cell phone?

I just bought a 92 M5 (with 35k) on it. The car is incredible--literally like it rolled of the showroom floor.

It has a built in cell phone--analogue I asssume. Does anyone still use theirs? Who supports this type of phone. A quick call to my Sprint carrier and they said no way.

Any thoughts.

My 1991 also had the OEM phone... Verizon and Cingular will NOT activate--there is an FCC order in place that effectively bars the providers from activating any phone that does not have the GPS chip (or e-911 capabilites).

I removed mine.

You have to remember to either pull the whole harness, or leave the part of the phone that is attached to the harness and shove it under the console. If you do not do this then the display will not work for your computer under the gauges.

I then ordered the BAV Auto cup holder to sit in the empty spot. It seems to work well.
