    overpriced

Just saw a new m5 in showroom at riverside bmw. It is the red with perforated leather. These idiots want 20000 over sticker. When I saw it I laghed in front of the salesman and I think he didn't like it.

What I love is how they have everything locked and don't want to open up or even have the engine bay open. It is just a car, not a priceless piece of art.

You would think that with a new model coming out especially the new m5 they would try to bring excitement to it and show people the beuty of this car.

By the way it is a lot better looking in person and I will probably order one but at 115000 it is a joke especially with as many are that are on the market right now.

    Cheers

Plenty of [email protected] types in SoCal that will! ;)

However, considering the mediocre reviews this vehicle is getting.......NOT for much longer.

Agreed. Not as ugly in person and nicer in a darker color.

BMW would have been better served just warming over that outstanding V-8. :D

I would like to see a Silver Gray in person, my dealer has only gotten (that i know of), Ind Red with Black interior and Black Saphire with White interior. I dont think I could handle the white interior, I would like to see that after 1-5 years, even someone who maticulously maintains their car would have a hard time keeping the white interior looking new!

Driving the Sled Pig in the morrow Hooplehead!

Will reserve MY opinion until then. ;)

For you lazy bastards that refuse to do their own research.......the "problems" have been the over-taxed chassis and brakes, a crappy SMG, and a fuel tank the size of a pumpkin. :D

If you really want to to drive a European V-10......the Williams F1 team is off-loading ALL their racing acrs at rock bottom prices.

The last white interior car I saw was a Cutlass!

A 1971 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme, burnt orange exterior with a white top..........owned by my Ol' Man. ;)

We had that car for years and the interior held up pretty well.

    :D

The fuel tank is the only "issue"...

Over taxed chassis? Where did you read that, because its definately not. The car is solid crusing around town, or bombing down the track. The suspension set up is one of the best OEM systems I've driven.

Brakes? Held up fine at the track, although I would recommend some better pads. HPS perhaps. Have you seen the size of the rotors and calipers?

Crappy SMG? You obviously have not driven one so shut your face. SMG 3 is much better than SMG 2, and I think it fits the car perfectly. But SMG will always be a personal preference so maybe I'm just lucky.

Small tank... yes, it could be bigger, but after break in the milage is getting better so it may not be a real issue in the long term.

I said this before... Shut your pie hole and go drive an M5.

When I get a break from "bidness".......I'll give you my impressions.

So far....I like the M3 SMG much better. ;)

Now go off and play with yourself. :P

    Please enlighten us...

I think you are the only person to have ever posted or written a review that does not think SMG 3 is way better than 2.

You must have some insight that we lesser beings lack.

Please tell us how you bad our lead sled is... tell us we are dumb for driving it, and foolish for lusting after it.

    The world waits.

    Not any more

My Central California dealer told me "the market is going soft on them in a hurry, and we'll be at MSRP in January".

But I will wait until the 6 speed is available. At that time any issues with the new V10 will be uncovered.

BMW's have had light gray leather interiors (pretty much white) for years and years.

Just a tad defensive there Mr. Rabid? ;)

You remind me of another Rabid character.......from some other Flea Forum. :D

While this car has many outstanding attributes......agility isn't one of them. Then again I'm used to driving sports cars and not big Kraut sports sedans.

And it's NOT the Lead Sled. It's The Sled Pig. ;)

Great car at speed. We pushed over 120 mph on IH-10 outside of Junction City, Texas........then returned through all those twisties returning to Austin.

Not done with my review so cool your jets Zorro. :P

Lotus white interior. I had that color in my 87 M6 and in my 84 850CSi.

    OMG, what a great car

I just bought a 2006 M5 at MSRP when the guy that ordered it backed out. Luck.

The car is awesome! I own a Ferrari with a 6sp manual and have owned a Z8 alpina (hated the button controlled auto) and never thought I would have so much fun with an SMG. The trans is unbelievable and has forced me to admit I cannot do better myself. The downshifts are perfection. Much better than the M3s I drove in the advanced M-school. The V10 is a beast and sounds like an F1 car when wound up. Anyone who has driven this car and hates it is an idiot - or a grandmother. BMW finally hit a home run in my opinion. Dial in the 500 hp sport mode (for "purists" per the manual) and hang on to your hat because it is going to be one wild ride. Oh yeah, nav, blue tooth phone, HUD, voice command, heated front and rear seats, satellite radio, .... Loaded 4000lb car handles like a 2500lb car and accelerates like my F car that cost 3 times as much. wow. wow. I hope you guys have room for me here because I am here to stay. :)

    I just order one too!

I second what you said about the M5.

I almost drop the idea of buying one. However, two days ago, I had the wonderful pleasure to test drive the M5 for over 1/2 hour in slow moving traffic, auto mode, and full blown drive it like I stole it mode. Regarding the SMG, in traffic, it was actually pretty good. In auto mode, it felt strange and the shifts were not very interesting. But, I'll drive it in auto only on an as needed basis, so no big deal. In F1 paddle mode, with shift speed dialed to the fastest, it was nothing short of superior. And...the exhaust tone..WOW.

Let me just say that I was so impress with it that I put down a deposit and ordered one just the way I liked it. Thus..I'll be joining the M5 club soon.

    yes, but may introduce more

    with the unproven transmission...

not to knock the car... but working out the kinks is hard when you introduce a totally different transmission...

The car is certainly not perfect.

There are a bunch of minor, irritating features, mostly because either I, or BMW haven't perfected all this technology yet.

But I have to agree, if you're looking for the best car in the world with 4 doors, and you love to drive, this is it. Good review in this month's Autoweek - the M5 "rips the lungs out of it's competition".
